Low dose naltrexone

Has anyone tried or heard anything about low dose Naltrexone? I have been reading articles that seem to indicate it might be a help for us with FM. They claim it has little or no side effects. Any information will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks sometime

My friend is taking this quite successfully for MS. I haven't found any doctors who are prescribing this for fibro though. I have asked my own doctor about it, but he hasn't heard anything about using it for fibro either, and is unwilling to prescribe it. If you do manage to try it, please keep us posted. I'm wondering why they haven't begun a clinical trial on this at the very least, as my friend has gained significant relief from her MS symptoms since starting this about a year and a half ago. She lives in England though, and things are a bit different there.

Stanford University is currently doing studies as are a few smaller places.I am on low dose Naltrexone and I live in Saskatchewan, Canada.

You have to be careful which filler you get as you should not get the one with calcium carbonate, but get the one with lactose. I do have more energy but no pain relief. You do have to give it time though, possibly up to a year or two.

I'm going to continue on it but need to find out from my pharmacist which filler they used. Could make a huge difference. I had zero side effects and since it's an anti-viral have not had a cold or flu since starting it. I am able to drink without any ill effects either...although I tend to not drink much anyway.

What difference does the filler make? That's interesting to know. I live in AZ., and would need to find a trial going on nearby...either in the Tucson or Phoenix area. I would also have to wean from my opiates first. (I'm taking oxycodone for pain right now) I do know that the LDN will cause immediate withdrawal, which would be quite uncomfortable. I would certainly do so if the LDN offered hope, although I have just begun Savella, and I'm hopeful right now, as it seems to be helping. I have to see if it continues, and if the side-effects will cease. I also am hoping that my blood pressure won't go up too high, as that's a potential side-effect as well. Thanks for your info.
