Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Had this dream last night that I was in a play and the director came over and talked to me about my part. When he put his hand on my shoulder all my pain went away....I can not explain how good it felt to be pain-free. I woke up in so much pain (I am going through a flare, unlike anything I have ever had before.) I am having trouble walking...for the first time. My question to you all is, how do you stay sane when you are going crazy with pain? I can't stop crying and it is scaring me. I even took pain meds this morning, which I don't even believe help me! Any support would be so appreciated. Just found out my brother relapsed from sobriety so I am sure that heartache is not helping. Thanks in advance. xo

I'nm exhausted. This doxycycline thing has ripped me apart and I'm eating crackers and water. I can't take (anything) or eat (anything) except saltines and toast and maybe unbuttered watery mashed potatoes. Are we sure the cure isn't worse than the possible disease?!?!And a week to go. ***Fun cures that WERE worse than the disease:ARsenic. Popular against STDs, which just compounded misery...

Btw, pain killers don't help my fibro pain either. That's not that uncommon, I hate to say. I hope your flare passes quickly!
Another big help for me is the natural herb ashwagandha. I use Douglas Labs, no side effects at all.
I'm sorry the pain is driving you crazy and that you have to deal with your brothers problems. I really hope you find some help.
twuinmomab...can you tell me more about ashwagandha and what it does for you? I am curious...
Feeling better thanks for the support. Sometimes I feel so alone and I have ever few people I feel comfortable telling about my pain so I send a lot of time pretending I am ok when I am not. I am sure you know all about it... xo
I understand the loneliness, I'm feeling it bad yesterday and today. I just told my husband this morning I spent all weekend pretending to be okay when I feel like dying, I'd like to see him try that every day of his life. It's exhausting. Hugs
Thanks for the advice about the herbs. It is nice to communicate with people who get it...xo
From your description of your pain-free dream, I'm thinking hypnosis may help.
Have you tried it? It works with me with anxiety. Last year, gabapentin gave me such scary anxiety that the only thing that worked was hypnosis therapy with a hypno-therapist. After about 2 weeks, it worked!
With hypnosis/visualization, I am in a different "place". And somehow, it resets my neuro-circuitry. So when you said in your particular dream, you were pain-free, you were at a "different place".
Did you get the Doidge books yet? According to neuroplasticity, the longer you are in pain or anxiety, the more ingrained these pain paths are. One must "reset" the brain circuitry, so to speak. Hypnosis breaks this circuitry; even for a 15 minute session, it weakens these pathways. The more that these pain paths are disrupted, the weaker they become.
My hypno-therapist let me record the sessions, so that I can replay them whenever I want. Many times, I could use these tapes instead of grabbing a pill.
