I love her! Hoping that she settles right in and that she and Haco are best buddies.

I texted her foster mom a video of her headbutting my hand and purring and kneading, she was thrilled. She said she really felt like I was a perfect adopter for this kitty, even when the rescue just sent her a heads up that I'd be getting in touch with her with fairly limited info (I think that I'm a single person who works with animals and has a lot of experience with shy cats). They were really excited about finding her a good home. Apparently someone expressed interest in her but it was a single mom with a 6 year old, and they basically said this cat wouldn't be right-which is true. She'll get there with the right environment, but she's not what most people would consider outgoing or friendly

She is a beautiful kitty :) My Great aunt had a cat that was the same color named Shadow, she was born the same year and month as me and she lived to be 26. She was NOT a nice cat though. I am the ONLY one that she liked, my aunt always had her arms full of bites and scratches that would bleed etc and bandaids on her. and she got her at 6 weeks old. She would hide from everyone but would sleep under teh covers with me. My mom thought i was nuts that the cat would attack me, she never did not even once. I am sure you will come up with the name that is the perfect fit for her :)

So I finally came up with a name for her, I wanted her name to have some connection with Haco and possibly Koshka (since she’s also a tabby with a short tail and I actually got both of them when they were 7 months old). Her name is Skadi (SKAH-dee) after the Nordic goddess of ice, winter and hunting. With her kind of silvery color and Haco’s name meaning “fire” I think it works. They’ll essentially be fire & ice. And it turns out Haco is also a lesser used spelling of a Norse king, usually written as Haki, in addition to the Celtic/Cornish origin I chose it for (he was a Cornish king in what may be a childrens story now?) Old Norse was a spoken language but nothing was written down so the spellings are an educated guess. I also like that Skadi represents hunting since she looks like a little bobcat.

I don’t think I mentioned her story, other than being with her foster for 3 months or so. Someone saw a person dump her near a feeding site for feral cats, and I don’t think they ever found the person who did it (this is around the north shore of MA, which is half ritzy/touristy, and half sketchy as hell-so the police are stretched pretty thin in a lot of areas, and I highly doubt this happened in the nicer parts). Someone managed to get her and brought her to the rescue, she was about 4 months old, which is about the end of the window where you can really socialize a kitten.
