I have my computer screen turned down to the lowest brightness setting, and do not use the over head lights in my office... just a small desk lamp in the corner. I never turn on lights in my house unless absolutely necessary, and then only use lamps with low wattage bulbs. My family calls me "the vampire", but it helps immensely.
I do the same with sounds... keep everything turned down as low as possible.
It's been almost 20 years since the light sensitivity hit as one of my symptoms, and it hasn't passed yet... but I've learned to live with it. The main thing is I don't try to "gut it through" and be tough, or worry about people will think about me, or even pretend to be normal. I do what I have to do to be comfortable. If anyone asks, I just say "my eyes are very sensitive to the light" and leave it at that. I have enough pain I can't do anything about - if carrying sunglasses everywhere I go will alleviate even one tiny bit of it it's worth it.
I've been sensitive to light all my life and never go out without sunglasses. Even then if it's bright enough or direct enough (like when I'm driving and the sun is low in the sky) it hurts.
Have you had your eyes checked to see if there is an underlying physical or vision problem?
