when i read the post about ' collective time table' i had to laugh. i'd been thinking along the same lines.......i have a tendency to have 'sympathy pains' for other people and was wondering if that might have something to do with how intense my pain has been lately. maybe some, but, i recon the weather might be a contributing factor too.
i totally agree that a good laugh can help you feel better.....after your ribs and stomach stop hurting =)
here's one that i hope you get a chuckle from :
my sister-in-law and i were running late getting back from an errand one day and she realised that her daughter's school bus was going to beat us home. so, we pulled in at a little strip mall by the highway to call my dad to pick her up for us.
now, it's important to remember that my SIL is VERY hard-of-hearing. anyway, there was a payphone hanging on the outside wall next to the pop machines, so i pulled up and let her out, thinking i was gonna just sit there and wait on her instead of parking. since she had her back to me and she can't hear good , she never heard the HUGE GARBAGE TRUCK that made me move so he could get in there. i pulled around to where i thought she'd see me when she turned around.
well, i watched as she hung up the phone, turned around, ran over to the garbage truck and CLIMBED UP IT'S STEPS and got 1/2 way in! she came back down those steps -way faster than she went up them-, ran around the front of the truck and back down through the parking lot, head down, arms and legs pumping like she was on fire!
luckily, she was running in my direction. when she finally looked up and saw me she started shaking her fist and yelling at me. when she got into my truck she was still yelling at me but i was laughing so hard by then i could hardly hear her. she was screaming, "why'd you do that to me??!!" i said, "even if you didn't notice that a garbage truck was sitting there instead of my pickup, didn't it seem funny to you that you had to CLIMB UP STEPS to get in??".
when i could finally talk, i asked her what the guy in the garbage truck said. she said he just grinned and said, "well, hellooooooo baaaaby, come on in!".
that happened over 20 years ago and i still crack up every time i think of it. i hope it gives you a smile.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Here is one more story.
I was picking him up from preschool when he was younger.
Went to pick him up, and got to our car. He climbed into his car seat and locked himself in. I put all my papers and things into the seat next to me.
I see a lady frantically running towards me with a bit of a serious look. I open my door, before I start my car.....
She says to me "UM, excuse me! You are in my car!"
Talk about Embarrassed!!! Same car, same interior....
Son in the car seat. LOL!!!!
Had to unload everything, with a "OHMYGOSH, so SORRY!"
LOL...My car was 4 cars down.
;-)
I feel, see it, live it. could be a connection!!!

Reminds me of the time a friend was so involved in her cell phone convo she walked up to a Chevy Suburban of the right year, and color, and discovered her key did not work! WTF? She was swearing, cussing, furious, just didn't get it---then someone came up and asked her, very politely, "Why are you trying to get into my Suburban?"
My friend has ever since cehcked the license plate on her vehicle before attempting to enter it!
From 1986 to 2000, I worked in the travel & tourism industry for a large privately owned tour & bus company here in North Carolina. More stories & unusual occurrences that one can imagine, seemingly one a week. Passengers getting on the wrong bus - people taking the wrong suitcase home with them - you get the idea. Here's two that come to mind that I will share with you.
Right after I started in 1986, I would often be assigned to be the Tour Director on trips to the Ozark Mountains out in Arkansas & Missouri. Trip would leave NC on a Monday morning & return on Sunday evening. Each Saturday involved a long drive from Springfield MO to Paducah KY. Only place to stop for an afternoon break was at a McD's in Poplar Bluff MO. It was a hot June day & my driver had his wife on the trip (nice for me as I got a room by myself all week long).
Anyway, just before we reached McD's, there was a small hotel & I noticed that two young women were sunbathing by the pool as we drove by. Made mention of it to him while we were at McD's.
After our break was over, everyone got back on the bus & we headed east toward KY - except my driver turned the wrong way when he pulled onto the highway. I leaned over & informed him that he was going in the wrong direction. The best place to turn around was in the hotel parking lot & that is why we did (girls had left the pool).
I let us get about a mile down the road before I got on the PA system. I told my group that it might appear that my driver had turned the wrong way when we left McD's, but that was not the case, he & I wanted see if the two girls were still sunbathing. Then I looked at his wife & grinned real big. Don't know what he told her later!
The other one happen several years later after my fibro began & I had to quit traveling & started working at the operations center. Among my duties, I was in charge of getting the trips on the road so I often had to go to work in the early morning hours.
One particular morning several trips were leaving, some scheduled at 7:30 & some at 8:30. One of the tour directors was famous for showing up with only minutes to spare, but this particular day she was the 3rd car to pull into the unloading area about 6:45 am. I greeted her & said, "You are early." She replied, "Well, I leave here at 8:30." I said, "Yes, you do, tomorrow." It goes without saying that she was embarrassed. She was on time the next day.
So many more - hope these two did bring a laugh.
It was winter time and I was hanging out with some friends (I'm not even sure if the were friends from my waking life) and someone had made up this game called snow soccer or snow lacrosse or something. The object of the game was like the actual sport except you used snow balls as the ball instead. I eventually got board with the game and decided to throw a snow ball at someone making a snowman or something and the person saw me and went to catch the snow ball I threw at him/her. The only problem they had to drop the giant snow ball they were holding in order to catch it. So they dropped it and caught my snow ball but the one they were holding smashed to pieces and they didn't realize it until after it happened. I couldn't help but laugh at the whole thing. I think I even laughed for real and not just in the dream. Then there was a jump scene.
It's now night time and I'm still at the same location which was kinda like a town square or something with shops all around and a beautiful court yard. For some reason I was out looking to find some way to get me a prosthetic leg even though I haven't had a leg amputated. I went over to where the person was building a snow man before and found that in place of the crushed giant snow ball there was a prosthetic leg laying where the mound of snow should have been like it morphed into a prosthetic leg, only it came in two parts, the leg itself and the part you use to attach it to the nub. The attachment wasn't there so I had to find it before the leg was of any use. I find this person and it's someone making a snowman or something again. (I'm almost sure they were making a snowman.) I decide to do the same thing again hoping for the other part to appear, every bit just as funny as the first time. The person leaves (either walked off or vanished or something) and I walk over to where the mound of smashed snow should have been and there was actually the other piece I needed for the leg.
All of a sudden these three people, the two from before and a police officer, come out of nowhere. They had told the police about what happened and now, supposedly, I'm in trouble for what I did. Apparently, making people drop snowman parts within the town limits is illegal. Then the officer notices the prosthetic parts and accuses me of stealing them, which I didn't and explained. Apparently, this person had lost a prosthetic leg, for whom I was asked to find it for maybe, and didn't know where they lost it. The leg I found matched the description of the leg the person lost perfectly. I gave the now found parts to the officer and the officer dropped the charges of what I had done to the two people for it, although the officer took me to the station I think so I could see the person the leg belonged to.
it's way worth the little bit of pain in my laugh muscles! =) =) =)
