Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
The ones that helped me are the 5-htp, DL-phenylalanine [DLPA] as it puts both dopamine and norepinephrine in your brain and GABA that puts GABA in your brain and is calming.
DLPA is used in pain clinics and is safe enough to give to horses and dogs. I had two of my dogs on it before they passed away--one for arthritis and a torn knee tendon and the other for arthritis and MS. They both did remarkably well on it. It does raise your blood pressure about 10 points so if you have high blood pressure, you probably shouldn't take it. It's also stimulating so be sure and take it first thing in the morning to prevent insomnia. It should help your fatigue as well as improve your mood.
The amino acids GABA and L-tyrosine are both great for controlling anxiety as they calm the brain. Like DLPA, L-tyrosine is stimulating and can cause insomnia so take it early in the day. It also helps stimulate the thyroid. GABA is calming and can be taken any time.
The 5-htp converts to serotonin in your brain and will help both your depression and anxiety. Serotonin is what antidepressants work on.
