Unfortunately as we all know, FM is tied to sleep. Once we start sleeping every night and get a good rest, then our pain levels start to lower. It's all a vicious cycle.
I hope you can figure out what to do. As far as the creepy, crawlies it may be neurological - I would definitely mention it to your doctor (if you haven't already). Taking the really warm bath helps me with my restlessness. Good luck...hugs jilly
I am a very light sleeper, and despite all the sleeping meds I am on that knock me out, if I get woken up, that's it! I'm up for good! I hate it! No one in the house tries to be quiet, they don't realize that once they wake me up, even if I've only been asleep for an hour, I won't be getting anymore sleep, unless I take the meds again (even tho I've explained this until I'm blue in the face!)
Also, yes to the skin crawling! For me, it feels like a few different things. sometimes it feels like someone ripping my skin off. Sometimes, it feels like I've got bugs with very sticky feet crawling inbetween my skin and muscles, and sometimes, just feels like someone is tryin' to rip my muscles out. Mostly it's in my arms, and yes, I will sit there and wiggle my hands or stretch the arm muscle trying to get it to stop. It's VERY, VERY irritating to say the least and almost exactly like withdrawal. I haven't run into anyone else who experiences this, but now you. I guess it's the fibro. My doc thought it was MS. She said it really sounded like it, and I had other symptoms as well. But the last MRI done a couple of weeks ago, came out negative. Without doing a spinal tap, no way to know for sure tho. Maybe you should talk to your doc to be sure it's not MS?
But either way, I hear ya girl. I wish there was something I could offer you. Have you tried Ambien? Not the CR, but the regular. I think I've just been on it too long to help me much anymore. I need to switch to something that is stronger, but just putting it off.
Good luck hon. I know it's frustrating as all get out!!!
I do remember what a good night sleep is but I don't get them either. After 2-3 hrs I wake up ,waddle off to the potty and go back to sleep, but it is more like daydreaming than deep sleep and wake at the least little sound.I am fortunate that our nearest neighbor is 2 miles away ,but the critters of the night more then make up for any noisy neighbor!!We have 3 dogs and one insist on howling (he's a redbone hound) everytime the wind changes direction. So if the wind itself itself doesn't wake me, he does.
For the restless leg thing , here's what works for me..I rub vick's salve over my legs. I don't know why it works but most of the time it does.It also helps relieve some of the swelling that comes from osteoarthritis in my joints.
Good luck with catching up on your sleep.
Lynda
Seriously though, it is so frustrating when your partners do not seem to care about the sleep we need and how hard it is for some of us to achieve that and maintain it. Hugs, Owlxx
but I just cannot go any earler...and why just lay there...when i do that my RLS kicks into high gear and I have to get up and move around anyway...neverending !!
I wonder if he would like it if you woke him up after he had been asleep for a while. You might try that the next time you are still up and can't get back to sleep. Make him stay up with you until you get back to sleep.
If you can't do that, have a talk with your doctor. My doctor told me I can safely take up to 300mg. of Trazadone if I need it. Any higher would need approval.
Gentle hugs to you.
I have the opposite problem...I have a son that wants to stay up late and a hubby that wants to get up really early for work! It's brutal.
I take a Melatonin for sleep every night. It works wonders for me but doesn't for everyone. It's a natural enzyme produced in your body, so it doesn't interact like some other sleep meds do.
I take Voltoren as an anti-inflammatory. It's probably going to give me an ulcer but it does help a bit.
I also take FibroSense from the health store. It's basically malic acid, celadrin, magnesium and fish oil, all which you can get basically anywhere that sells vitamins.
If you cannot impress upon your husband how important it is NOT to wake you up, then you are going to need to make different arrangements for sleep when you are feeling a flare coming on. We all know how DEEPLY important the quality sleep is with FMS. Can you sleep at a concerned family member's house or a friend. Hey, there is always a clean local hotel to go to check in for a night if you are able to get away for a night and a late morning sleep. Good Luck! Hugs
