I'm so sorry to hear you've had such a horrible time lately, there's no words x I too am recently diagnosed so my experiences prob won't be as bennificial to you as some of the other guys and girls on here.
My FM was diagnosed after a miscarriage (apparently it's quite common for it to be brought on by tragedy or shock) and I have had it for about 4 months officially now, although i do think i have had it on and off in recent years.
My symptoms are mostly horrible muscle pain, points pain, extreem tiredness, headaches, forgetfulness, lack of co ordination etc.
I take co codamol 15/500 with ibuprofen and I have been prescribed Amitriptyline which I am not huge on taking so I haven't started that yet. I sometimes take "Calms" night times, don't know if you can get them in the USA, but they're a herbal sleeping pill which also chills you out.
I am waiting to see a specialist, but my GP has been great.
Have you been prescribed stuff? Seem a specialist yet?
Sending you hugs, hoping you find comfort here x
Ruby x
Right now I'm beginning to feel better, but can't say if that has anything to do with the meds, or if it is just the "flare up" finally backing off. I guess only time will tell.
I took Amitriptyline years ago, when I first went to the doctor for migraines. (before I put all the pains I had together.) I also have a problem with ibuprofen. I can take it when I'm feeling OK, but for the flare ups, it seems to make it worse for me. (Like it builds up in my system).
Anyway, I you have good luck with the specialist. At least it sounds like your GP listens to you.
hope things get better for you!
Hope this helps....please ask more questions if you'd like.....My condolences to you and your family.
HUGS from down south :)
Trauma and stress are one of the things believed to trigger FM I wish you good luck with your medicines and hope they will be helpful for you with your FM.
So far I have not experienced numbness but have 24/7 pain from the neck to my feet it never goes away but pain levels vary. Pretty miserable crap.

take care gentle hugs
I take Lyrica and Cymbalta and they take away most all of my pain and numbness. It could take a couple of weeks before you really see the difference. Good sleep is very important too.
