The part where you say you hear what they say might ring a bell and make them quieter Worth a try. Or turn your music up on your radio or TV on.
Here are a couple of things I have done that help me. I found 34 decibel blocking earplugs online. They work very well for me. They will not block all sound, that would be dangerous, but they block enough that upstairs noise doesn't disturb my sleep.
I also have problems with the very loud bass from music even with the ear plugs when I am awake. I went online again and found bass blasters CD It is white noise in a lower range to neutralize the music from other appartments.
Yes I know it is a pain to have to go to all that trouble just because others are inconsiderate but it is what it is. I will fight for every minute of sleep I can get.
I tried a pair of them when we were on a trip where the motel had thin walls, and the people next to us sounded like they were having a party. Put the earplugs in, toned it down so low that I fell to sleep all night, no problem. Easy solution, at least for me, it was. Good luck!
Those soft foam ear plugs can help to block out a lot of the noise.
Be sure to turn up your alarm as you may not hear it with the plugs in.
