WHAT do you really think I'm "trying" to do here? I actually PAID full price for a book on Amazon that a member of DS wrote. I found it not to be worth my expenditure. It told me nothing I did not already know, gave me no tips, no suggestions I needed, no support I could not have gotten elsewhere. I did NOT come onto DS and SAY that! I actually was very gracious about having bought the book, which was advertised by way of someone's avatar.
Come ON... what is the problem?????
for your information, those who look so briefly and response so inappropriately and misguidedly, NO, it's not the Atkins diet. It mentions it, because it was NOT a bad diet, however, I am seeing now very clearly in action how people take one tiny bit of info and misconstrue it insanely and run off about it ad nauseum. This book which is JUST A BOOK, (not MINE, not connected to me, not benefiting me at all) is full of very much great, distilled info on diet, exercise, and the way the body works. I am learning about why food works as a whole, and nutrients are meant to work synergistically. I am glad to be learning it.
If you are not interested just ignore and don't respond with so much misplaced vitriol!
And like I said above always read the customers reviews on the book, one can gather alot of info.
You came on this board and tried to cram an unwritten book that didn't even apply to FM down everyone's throat and when they didn't want to take your medicine you got pretty ugly.
Your credibility is shot for those that have known you in the short time that you have been a member of this board, at least with me.
I remember one of your first posts was "What books do you like to read?" I feel like this was your way to sort through who you felt was intelligent, at least that is how it felt to me.
What's really going on sweetheart? Send me a pm if you'd like. I'm a little concerned about what may be going on and why you are so angry. We have incredibly supportive members here but disagreements do arise from time to time. Sometimes tones are inferred that aren't always there. So what can we do to help? What's going on?
Talk to me if you'd like. Some of us do have genuine concern for each other. Focus on those members and if there are others that aren't as supportive, then just ignore those. Stress can make our pains worse and this is the place you are supposed to be able to get away from stress of the real world, not supplement it. I'm here if you need to talk. ;)
my avatar shows and I've made no secret of the fact that I like to read, love books, and love to talk about them. To take my inquiry about what others like to read, meant to try to get discussion with others, and infer that it was a way of judging others' .... welp... whatever. Insecurity, maybe?
Exhausted, thanks for your sweetness; those who have posted know what they're doing, and how they're hiding it. I'm not going to pm; I don't gossip. I'm not angry and it's not got to do with the Atkins mention. It's the personal animosity that is snidely directed at me, which you aren't meant to pick up on ... only I am, and the inside Group is. Thanks again.
Naturalfoodgirl, I appreciate your recognising it for what it is and being so supportive!
I apologize if you took my comment as an attack on you.
I made my short post after reading here and there in the book that Amazon allows me to do before purchasing sort of as a sample. I probably spent a half an hour or so looking at the book before posting. It was not something that I said without giving it some thought first.
I do know personally a number of people who were/are doing the Adkins diet and I personally believe it is not a well balanced diet, it isn't healthy long term and it was a fad in my personal opinion. My wife and her mother and brother are 3 examples. So I have seen it pretty close up.
I have also seen health programs on TV about the Adkins diet, why it helps lose weight, and the risks. So, as I stated, I am not an expert, but I do have an opinion (based from facts I have seen).
I still believe the diet this book talks about is similar (not exactly the same, but similar) to the Adkins diet, based off of what I read in the book, and reading a menu at the end of the book. This is my personal opinion and thats it. I do not mean any more than that, or any less.
Also, from my personal experience, I feel my best when I eat mostly raw fruits, vegetables and nuts and some grains. I believe this is opposite of what this book suggests, so again, I disagree with the book.
I don't always sit and try to consider all the ways a comment I make might be taken by the original poster or all others that may read what I post before hitting "Add". Although I do usually try to stay out of the drama conversations that have erupted off and on.
Maybe I should be more careful, I don't know, but I believe it is unfortunate if we have to walk on egg shells so to speak.
I also wish DS would go back to being a support group the way it was intended and all the drama would end.
I did consider the information about hydrogenated vegetable oils interesting and informative. But just because hydrogenated oils are not healthy does not make this a well balanced diet, and there is nothing that will change that opinion in me. Thats just my opinion, based off of a number of different experiences in my life.
I have yet to see any post that everyone agrees with. Some subjects I began that I thought was really important, was only commented on once or twice...oh well. Thats just how it goes.
Anyways, this is way too long, so I will stop now.
