That sounds awful. Intense itching is distressing.
A few weeks ago I had some kind of rashes on my ankles and top of feet and I am sure it was excema and I scratched until it bled too. It was so itchy and it Drove me crazy. I tried different topical creams to no avail.
I was going to give it another week or so but I was ready to go to the doctor about if it didn't go away.
I started going to the pool for aqua therapy and I noticed the rashes were clearing up. I also went to the beach for a few days and they have totally gone now. What the heck the rash was I don't know.
But I think the chlorine did something. And maybe the sea water too.
Maybe it was a fungal thing?
Skin fungal problems can be super itchy. Excema is super itchy too.
And you can get it anywhere on the body really.
It's not good to scratch the skin until it bleeds. Even though I admit to doing it myself. The broken skin can be susceptible to getting an infection. So be careful.
I would get it checked out by a doctor if it persists.
I Hope you feel better. And if you are stressed and anxious which are actually my issues too. I hope you can find ways to distress. Maybe that will help.
So many things we have to deal with. It's difficult.
I wish I knew. I have made it a habit to bath and soak in that Village Naturals Therapy Aches and Pains Relief Mineral Bath Soak most every day. I find the Eucalyptus and Menthol most soothing, followed by moisturizing my body, (including my scalp lightly) with Aveeno Skin Relief Shower and Bath Oil.
Sometimes I switch from the Village Naturals Therapy Mineral Bath Soak to Aura Cacia Aromatherapy Milk and Oat Bath, or their mineral or foam bath products. I notice if I don't change products from time to time, what I am using loses effectiveness. I avoid this by switching products for a few days.
Out of everything I have tried, this works the best for me so far.
I have tried virgin coconut oil as well. It works ok. The smell is light and pleasant, and it is a nice occasional switch up, but I find it absorbs so quickly into my body that I need to reapply too often on the days I use this.
Give these a try and see if they give any relief to you. I hope it does.
In my research, I came across many, many good articles all pointing to one thing: An allergy to propylene glycol. (Just now I Googled "propylene glycol allergy," and found this: http://www.glycolallergy.com/Advice/tabid/63/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/18/My-Story.aspx. Take a look at all of the products you use, and even the prepared food that you eat and see if it's in there. It may be listed under a different name; here's a list: http://www.glycolallergy.com/Advice/tabid/63/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/1/Other-Names-For-Propylene-Glycol.aspx.
To this day, I take one Claritin tablet each morning to head the itchiness off at the pass. (I've tried decreasing my dose and going without completely--doesn't work.) BEWARE: Just any ol' antihistamine won't work. You guessed it: Some contain propylene glycol!!!
I hope this helps.
