Hi all,
My fibro has been acting up for over two weeks now. Longest flare I have ever had. Plus my CFIDS is also bothering me. I am wondering if it could be my job? I work in a grocery store in the deli as a slicer. I slice meats and cheeses for the customers. The whole store agrees that deli is the hardest place to work in the whole store. It is very physically demanding, super fast paced and high stress. Plus due to all of those dynamics there is always major drama going on. My manager is always making excuses for the bad behavior saying that it's to be expected in our type of working environment. So, seeing how this is the first time in years that my fibro symptoms have lasted so long I am seriously thinking it could be the job.
I have horrible pain every single night, usually about one hour after I fall asleep. I end up taking 1200 mg of Gabapentin and 1200 mg of Tylenol Arthritis. I put on layers of Icy Hot and use my massager till it is so hot it actually leaves burns on me (I have two scars from this that have been there for 3 years). My husband will sometimes massage for me but not always. I really need to sleep because I also have bipolar disorder (WOW!! Aren't i sooooo lucky!!) and no sleep over several days leads to mania. That's ok but on the heels of mania is depression...that's NOT ok. I really want relief but I'm unsure what to do. I can't quit because we have 2 high school boys who are expensive and one will start college soon. I would like to find another position but I'm not sure if I will be jumping from the pan into the fire. You know...better the devil you know...
Do you guys think it's my job?? My psychiatrist doesn't want me working in the deli. He says it is way too stressful for my hard to treat bipolar and anxiety. My family think so as well. I just think how hard won this position is for me. I have proved that I can handle the toughest job. I feel proud and I receive a lot of respect from the other workers in the store. I really need that for my almost constant depression. I'm so confused!! It doesn't help that my fibro fog is going strong and I'm about to start a new bipolar med.

Is it possible to get a job doing reception? Some way you could sit down? I used to work at gas station and I was allowed a stool.
I would also seek an atty and see if you qualify for SSDI. It can be a long process, sounds like you have records and a case.
