does trazadone interact with topamax?
i'm on 100 mg of topamax every night and they recently started me on trazadone 25 mg, but i was only taking it like a couple times a week for sleep. my doc told me i gotta up the trazadone to 100 mg and start taking it every night now. so i took 50 mg last night and woke up this morning with horrible nerve pain all over my body.
everything i touch (objects and liquid) feels like a ricochet of pain which goes through my arms, shoulders, back, and neck. this feels like a nightmare. i can't help to ask my self if this is a med interaction of the two or if this is just a horrible natural REACTION to the trazadone? or am just having a flare?

Sorry to hear your suffering more than you did before. Everyone experiences medication and medication combinations differently. Are you able to get ahold of your Dr. and let him know what your experience is? You are the best person to decide if this combination of medication is something you want to go with or not :)

Whatever it is, it sounds like trouble so be careful!!
Maybe call the doc or pharmacist and ask....

You know your body better than anyone else but what your describing sounds like a symtom i had untill i got diagnosed an put on lyrica. I haven't had that pain since. I used to have that same pain 4-8 days out of the month. The lyrica takes that pain away completly for me.

I stop any med the moment the side effects start to interrupt my life.
Can you get some NYC Diesel? (actually, any diesel is really good for neuropathic pain)
The effect is about the same as Lyrica without all the horrid side effects.

i can call the pharmacy Monday and ask them.
i tried looking up on the internet if the 2 meds react but it doesn't give much detail other than to "monitor patient..." and that it "may slow the central nervous system".
i guess it's a waiting game.
rayfoof, i can't back off the topamax (tried that before) my head aches returned with a vengeance. best thing i can say is what's probably making me sick (if anything) is the trazadone.
so should i ride it out for the weekend and if i stay sick and in pain then get off it? i was thinking of doing that since i can't find any info on the 2 meds clashing, and i'll just call the pharmacy Monday. if they say the meds don't mix then i guess i'll have my answer, but if they say they meds are ok, then i guess we'll know it's just ME having a bad response to the med. right?

Now I know we see this kind of stuff on lots of meds, but if these symptoms came suddenly and with the increased dosage, I'd be hesitant to continue until I spoke with a doctor or pharmacist.
I am coming off of a horrible week and I think I just figured out it was because of an antibiotic that I was on that doesn't mix well with narcotics.
I hope that awful pain goes away quickly. I kinda have that too right now and it is not fun. {{gentle, gentle hugs}}
