You know I came to this site and this FM support group in particular years ago (maybe 8 or more, I cant remember) but all I did was read some posts and some of the links on this site. At the time I was desperate to find some things to help. That is why when a post comes up that is so obviously desperate to find help that it really strikes me so. I know the feeling and even though I may not reply, I really feel for them.
This time when I came to the FM support group I didnt take time to read any posts. I just jumped right in because I had made up my mind to quit just sitting alone 24/7 feeling bad. Yes, it appears to me that being totally alone does make things worse, well at least to me anyway.
So now to the actual subject of the title I posted. Ive been here almost a week and it has just now become very clear to me that most of the active members here are female. I just went through the Introduce yourself posts, both old and new and there was only one man there. Now I feel a little, oh I dont know, strange or out of place.
I have read somewhere in the past that FM strikes more women than men. Yet I think there is more to the story as to why only mostly women are here. Women are for the most part natural born nurturers and men are not. Men, for the most part dont share their troubles or admit very much to ailments for fear that it will make them look weak. To tell the truth, I am no different. It is just that I just dont care anymore what anybody thinks right now. However, I must admit that I feel rather strange being here in a support group made up primarily of women.

If you click on the box members on the bar that goes across the top then click on online now. It shows the members that are online at the time if the word chat is written across their avatar you can click on that and maybe have a chat with one of the other male members.
Also the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome group here at DS has a number of male members don't know what the ratio is But alot of people think fibro and CFS are the same and alot of members have been diagnoised with both.

I have the answer for you! Dealing with Fibromyalgia will put hair on anybody's chest. It'll make a man out of you for sure! So don't feel so all alone! I have two men friends on this site. Ralph45 and Duffman. Also Chesty who is very active.
You'll also be glad to know that I was raised with three brothers and am therefore very competitive myself. So I'm sort of manly. But still very much a female.
If you aren't aware of this, let me help you get this straight: When you open up to a female, you only raise yourself in her estimation. We know that it takes strength to spill your guts if you 're a man. So since there are mostly women on this site, you can drop your facade of tough guy and just be yourself. There's no need for it here. Besides, you not only will learn a great deal here, you may also be a great help to others and that will be very gratifying to you.
So, SPILL IT, BOY! And stop farting around! Ha! Ha!

If more men would be brave enough to open up they could get help and support for these things we suffer from.
And you're right, women are born to nuture. So who better to help you with this ?
