I will Pray for your Son, is so very hard when Our babies are Sick..
His Fever is what is Fighting OFF whatever is going on within him...I would not take the Temp down to far !!

Dixie, have you tried bathing him with alcohol to bring his fever down? Cool compresses might help too.
It looks like you're in for a night and the ER may look real good if he continues with the high fever.

I am afraid of bringing his fever down too fast with a bath, I'm scared he will have another seizure on me like he did once before when he ran a high fever.

If the high fever persists, get him to the ER PDQ. Prolonged high fever can = brain damage.
The cool compresses on his forehead and or eyes should lower it slowly and not give him a chill.

Dixie, I will pray for you and your son. You should take him to the ER. In January, I had a fever of 103 for 5 days before I went to the ER, and when I got there, they found that I had viral pneumonia and viral hepatitis. A high fever is nothing to mess around with.

I have him in the tub, but he thinks he is too old for momma to be in there with him. You know how a kid is cold when they have fever? He hasn't been cold all day and has been wanting ice water to drink. He is sweeting now, and I know normally that is a sign the fever is breaking but for somoe reason I don't think so in this case. Maybe I am just over paranoid and down right scared. I just want to take him into the ER and dh says try this first.

How old is your son? My daughter had some major problems when she was a baby and I had 6 months of experience with her having a 103-106 fever (I am not exagerating) this is for real. I had to alternate Motrin & Tylenol every 2 hours as well as the Ped told us to put a wash cloth under the arms and between the legs the really hot spots on the body. It would eventually bring the fever down. But by all means if it dosent go down please dont fool around with it. Take him to the ER. I will keep you in my prayers and I will say use common sense God did give us Faith but he also gave us Drs to use when we need them.

Yes, I am alternating tylenol and motrin. I just gave him motrin only 2 hrs ago, that usually always works, but nothing this time.

They did tell me that I could alternate them every 2 hours. So sorry for you. I will be praying.

Dixie I am so sorry your baby is sick.... old or not still our babies... the cool, not ice rags under the arms, back of neck and etc are a big help... just keep him munching on ice chips or better yet crushed ice. Keep us posted... No need for the little ones to suffer.... *fingers crossed-prayer said*

I called the dr.He said I could alternate tylenol and motrin every 3 hrs.

He loves to read, and reads at a hight school level. I tell you this because when I went in to check on him just now, he woke up and looked at me and said, "Have you got anything I can read? I haven't read anything now in almost 48 hours" Bless his heart, when he gets well we will probably be making a trip to Borders. :)
