i had 5 steroid lumbar injections to help take care of it. not sure if you could ask for steroid injections in your shoulder?
Here's another great myofascial pain website with lots of great diagrams to follow:
http://triggerpoints.net/
Chances are it's from the trigger point but there may be other TPs that are active as well so once again it's a hunt and peck adventure to figure out what's going on.
The muscle around the collarbone is the scalene and is notorious for causing all sorts of trouble from hand pain to headaches. Also, there are 3 or so trigger points just inside [towards the spine] the shoulder blade. There are also some trigger points across the upper back just below the shoulder that cause a lot of trouble.
Let me know what happens....
I get that same feeling at the base of my skull and it is unbearable.
Sure hope that you get relief soon.
It makes me think of the episode of Gilligan's Island where a witch doctor made voodoo dolls of the Castaways.

Is there a generic voodoo doll for all FM'ers? Who's sticking in those pins?
When it happened in front, I thought I was having a stroke or something. I lived. Now I just figure, whatever. I'm not dying today.
Maybe we're just using our mouse too much.
segulley, great link.... thanks!
U, ROFL.....I love Gilligan's Island.....lots of VooDoo around these parts too!!
Thanks, all, and HUGS to everyone from down south :)
Yesterday it started for me...I described it to hubby as tho someone were threading a "Needle & Thread of Pain" thru my shoulderblade to just above my left breast..Like a Straight shot...goes away...comes back..
Nerve Pain...I Know mine is nerve pain..
I get SO Many Wicked Pains thru that area...but this is Brand New !! YeaY !!
I have been a Huggin self to Loosen up the area...Nice and tight Hugs...rolling my shoulders...belly breathing to Expand everything out...throwing my arm across my chest, using my Other hand to stretch that arm just a bit more...then rubbing my left shoulder blade with my right hand...Pressing HARD on any Tender areas...to get the Muscle to Release..
idk...weird shit is All I DO Know for Sure.
I agree that it's probably myofascial and hope you've found some relief by now!
