I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. I lost my job in 2005, found a "wage" position (hourly, no benefits, so no paid leave) with the state after six months, and nine months later was in my third auto accident in six years, this one at speed on an Interstate Highway - idiot changed lanes into my space and ran me off the road.
I was out of work for a year - I tried to go back to my job (which wasn't going to wait for me because they didn't have to) but couldn't make it past three hours each day without back pain and migraines. It took more than six months of treatment, physical therapy, chiropractic, and rest, to recover. I had to stop driving due to PTSD that manifested as unreasonable fear of being run into by stupid drivers. Seriously I couldn't drive - I was uncontrollably afraid and had to get counseling for that as well. As you know all that costs money and nobody's paying the other bills while you try to get your health back.
I'm not trying to make this about me - just trying to say I understand. When I lost my job my husband had been back to work less than a year after two years of unemployment and we were just starting to feel "normal" again. I found another job, and nine months later, back out again because of the accident.
My accident also made my fibro worse, and I've never really returned to my pre-accident state.
I wish I could offer you more than empathy but that's all I've got. I don't have any family who would spit on me if I was on fire, other than my kids, and they are not in a position to help me - they have their own families and their own "stuff" to deal with, as most people do.
Blessings,
Elizabeth
These things seem to take forever it seems but the person that hit you his insurance will pay for everything and medical bills starting when you first went to the hosp the day of the wreck.
Hope you get feeling better soon. If you have to get a good lawyer get one and lookout for you and your childrens future. Good luck.
Please don't generalize too much from your earlier accident experience. It is natural to feel like your world has been knocked apart right now. However, this is not then. You are handling all needed things in a logical, good way.. Try and mentally step back and look at how this time may really not be as severe as before.
Of course flare after injury will occur, but you may be able to contain it. Also, of course, call your employer (or client) and explain (offer to show police report documentation if needed).
Does your car insurance have rental car coverage?
Hope you feel better soon.
You have every right to freak out right now. I would be. The main thing is are you okay. What did the hospital say. Are you injured. What do you need to do right now? Can you manage with your kids? Do you have any friends that can help you or stay with you for a few days. If you do not feel good go back to the hospital? If you got a concouscion (sorry can't spell) the hospital would give yu instructions. Was anybody with you at the hospital.? How old are your kids, can they manage or are they young. ? If you have no friends or family why are you in this new place? Did you just move here? You said you have an ex boyfriend can he take you back to the hospital, or stay until you feel better, or you can get someone to come help you. Main question do you live in the states o canada because the policys differ. Regarding insurance and injury claims. Was this a hit and run, accident? Did anyone see anything? Sorry for the 20 million questions I am sure you head hurts. But I am worried about you. Is there someone who can help you right now. Drop me a line maybe I can help some how isabee
I just looked to see your in Canada, okay if you can't manage , finacially, . One fill out your MPI claim. You have coverage through MPI. It will take a couple of days but then it should go through. In the meantime call Social Services. They will help you out. You can go on asst. There are offices all over Victoria. If you have a house and you get asst. they will put a lean on your house but you can pay it off later , or if you sell your house. If your in desperate need call the Salvation army they will help you. There are call help lines everywhere just look in your phone book okay. Your not alone drop us all line on the computer. isabee
