Hey, Rhonda....are you taking it with another antidepressant? I couldn't take savella....I took one pill and knew I couldn't handle it! It made me nervous, and I couldn't sleep.

I went on Lexapro and took a HUGE dive! Had to stop 3 weeks into it :(

No I'm not on any other antidepressant. I tapered off celexa before starting Savella.

Is there anything that can be done to stop these symptoms?

Savella made me completely hysterical after 3 days of taking it. I cried nonstop for no reason. I stopped taking it. I could not handle the roller coaster of emotional outbursts. I called the manufacturer to discuss my reaction with them and was told that it was an adverse reaction (Duh).

You can bet your boots that if the doctor was having the same problems that yo are experiencing, they would not put up with it. Fibromyalgia (FMS) is hard enough to handle without an additional "perks." You have to decide if you want to try and tough it out or throw in the towel. Take care.

Rhonda, I wouldn't think that's serotonin syndrome (but I'm certainly not a doctor). Actually celexa works totally on serotonin, whereas savella works more on norepinephrine and some serotonin.

I agree with Fantod....we have enough stuff to deal with without the awful side effects of the newest fibro drug. If it were me, I'd stop it pronto!

Savella didn't work for me either....flushing and major sweating! Not good since I am outside in Texas heat for part of the day.

I went off celexa to give savella a try and let me tell you it was a HUGE mistake!

I would stick it out. I had severe reactions like you did during the titration pack but after I was on the full dose for a couple days all the symptoms went away. I still get hot flashes every once in a while but otherwise everything else went away. Its worth a try to stay on it I think.

I have heard alot of people say they had strong reactions to savella at first. Some people tritrate up slower then the pack says staying at the smaller doses for an extra week or however long needed. If you just started last week then you must be on like 20mg by now if i rember right. So you should deside if you want to stay on the low dose longer or get off now. Savella seems like a really strong drug and the docs told me that it was very important to start slow and that the side effects should pass. But everybodys body is different, you know your body best! Good luck either way. I know there were several drugs they gave me I stopped the first day or week, like you I dont wish to die by the hands of big pharma!

I stopped the drug after only 4 days... made ma uncontrolable too! Made my tummy upset, made me cry because the sun came up, made me cry when the sun went down! I HATED it and I was still on the lowest does. I would rather be in pain then on some med that makes me feel like that did ! I am now on gabapentin and it is too early to say if it is working, but at least it aint giving me any major side effects...best of luck to you, I would stop the med, but if your doc aint cooperating, that makes it harder!

I stopped taking it Wednesday. I was on my way to work yesterday morning and felt horrible I was so weak I couldn't hardly keep my hands on the steering wheel. I called my husband and told him I was going to the ER because something bad was wrong with me. When the nurse checked my vitals signs my bp was 130/95 and my pulse was 102. My bp is never higher than 100/70 something. I'm felt like I was having an out of body experience... They check for everything that could possibly be causing these symptoms and nothing showed up the ER doc told me that I was having a reaction to Savella and to never take it again. Don't worry I would rather be in pain then feel like I feel while taking Savella!

I am trying Savella. First week I was nauseated all the time. The nausea went away and the sweating started. Now, I have never been one to sweat and it has been driving me crazy. I just bought a new month's supply so I will have to use it for a week and then slowly go off it. I am NOT a big fan of it. I still hurt like **** and thought the Savella would do the trick. Ha! I don't think there is anything that will take the pain away unless it is a heavy duty pain pill.
