No idea what it means but did you ask over on thyroid cancer board? They know more and were helpful when Ihad my (benign self-resolving) cyst....

That is terrible news on one hand but i am glad the rheumy listened and they saw something. Now they can deal with it. And I'll lend you my extra-big boots to kick butt if you want!

I just can't believe some don't do testing, I think that's why it's wise to go to a specialist.

I am surprised, knowing that you were involved with 9/11 that your docs have not been checking on these things all along! I pray for results that aren't life threatening but if it can be proven that it is a result of exposure to 9/11 I would be filing a claim with the government.

It's hard to find words to say regarding what I think of "drs" that rely on what they think they know rather than what THEIR patient is telling them. Thanks so much for your understanding. I'm a strange person in that usually Dr.Google helps me relax about things. I usually can figure out what is going on and knowledge helps me deal. Last night I was busy with Dr. Google and this time he is freaking me out. But I guess I just have to wait until I get myself who really knows what this means. Maybe if I get my thyroid straighten out it will help brain fog and maybe even aches and pains. That certainly would be nice.

My "compassionate" rheumy is on vacation, but I have a PCP appt on Tuesday.

Oh and apparently an atrophied thyroid isn't covered by the 9/11 program, but thyroid cancer is. I'm going to call them back and see if being evaluated for cysts to see if they are cancer would be covered. I'd like to go to the doctor of my choice instead of a medicaid doctor.

I'm sure as long as you pay out of pocket for the dr that you can see one of your choosing. But, if they don't accept Medicaid and they order any tests, you may have to pay for those also. Just be sure and check if the dr orders any tests. Also be sure and take a copy of the report with you if you see a new dr.

Ann I am so sorry and I hope you get answers soon. It annoys me to no end how just because we have fibro we are not taken seriously by our doctors. Hugs, Ellie

Wow, how frustrating! We know our own bodies and we KNOW when something is wrong!

It is seeing your doctor visibly sneer at you that is really obnoxious.

But I really don't know what it means. My thryroid levels are just in range with a small dose of synthroid, so maybe they will tell me I was born with a small thyroid. The cysts are tiny, so perhaps they won't be a concern. I guess it will be yet another specialist. Oh, joy.

Thanks for your support and prayers. I'm just trying to be patient. As far as the many doctors I've mentioned this to, an atrophied thyroid seems to be pretty rare, so for the ones who did a manual exam, they were looking for an enlargement. So, I guess I'll have to forgive the ones who didn't sneer.
