The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Crying isn't a bad thing - it is a release of emotions.
Remember that tomorrow is a new day - and that your friends at DS are here for you!!
Gentle hugs.
This too shall pass! Thats what I tell myself when I feel down, it will pass. Feel better soon.
Hugs, ellie
I hope your mother comes around and realizes how her behavior affected you. Meantime, we're here for you.
Hugs,
Elizabeth
Aww, I am so sorry. Don't be hard on yourself. Its perfectly ok to meltdown every now and again. We have a tremendous amount of frustration trying to just survive sometimes. Its very upsetting when others down play what we deal with or think we are simply just being dramatic. That really gets to me sometimes too. It's esp hard when its a family member or close friend. Those are the ones we want so badly to 'understand' but they just don't always and it is hurtful! Crying is good therapy IMHO.
I pray you have a much better day tomorrow.
Take Care, Dawn
As for being overwhelmed at times. Yes, that happens to me, over almost nothing. And I've finally been able to relate it to valium. Once or twice a month I take 2 mg. of valium for anxiety. I have noticed that the next day or even the second day after taking the valium, I am a wreck emotionally. I get moody and crabby. So, what I'm going to do is take the valium the next time I feel anxiety and then I will journal my emotions for the few days after that. And I will do this journalling the next few times I take valium. I really think there is something going on with the valium.
So, what I'm saying is maybe some of your meds are causing you to feel so overwhelmed? But maybe not. It's just what happens to me. I'm telling you this so you can pay attention to your reaction to meds. Of course, your feelings could be from the fibro illness or from the people in your life.
I hope you are feeling better now. Life can be so difficult at times. Come here and rant anytime. We care.
OR sometimes it's like a volcano full of pressure and I'm just trying to hold it in every day and pretend that everything is fine and life is fine, smile smile smile (no matter the pain) and then someone says something ignorant, and then BOOOM!!!! lava goes flying everywhere and all my frustrations go flying out on everything! Can't you people see I'm trying so hard every day!!!! GRAAAAAHHHHH!
You know a little something like that.
So I totally get it. You get tired of pushing your self and acting like it's fine so people don't see your pain. And you try to be as normal as possible. But even when you talk about one problem they don't want to hear it. I'm sorry you are struggling with it. But know that a lot if us here are going through the same thing. We feel you, too. hang in there. Take it one day at a time. Take care. xoxo
I totally relate to meltdowns. We spend so much time coping with pain, fatigue, etc., that we don't have many "defenses" left for anything else.
I always think of my ability to handle emotions/stress/crises on a graph. The "y" side (vertical) is the severity/number of things I have to deal with. The "x" side (horizontal) is the length of time. Horizontally across this graph is a line towards the top. This is my "cut-off" level for being able to handle things. When I have a lot to deal with (including pain, etc.) over a short time, I approach that line. Meltdowns happen when I cross it.
That is really hard to describe...wish we could put graphics on here.
It helps me a lot to visualize this. It has helped me not cross that line as often. When I start getting close I tend to isolate myself and rest as much as possible.
I hope you have a much better day tomorrow! Sending good thoughts your way!
You need what all of us fibro people need and that is to commuicate with each other where we can talk and share with those who truly can emapthize. In regards to my mother or anyone who cannot emapthize or offer even minimal supportive words, I just dont explain how I feel. I will talk about anything else and accept that they are not capable of understanding. I kind of release the expectation and I feel so much more at peace since I have come to take a new perspective.
I know what you mean by feeling like DS has helped beyond belief because since I have joined, i can already feel and see the tremendous positive impact it has had in my life on many levels.
Hugs to you. Hey and remember, there is no such thing as being too sensitive.
People 'blow up' over tiny things and do not deal with the constant pain, fatigue, and other issues we have. Imagine if they had what we had?! We gotta give ourselves PROPS sometimes for all we go through. I no longer let people make me feel bad or guilty because I can no longer do something. NO WAY. Sometimes you have to stop.. and feel what you feel and see if that person could even last a MINUTE with our pain.
I hate being misunderstood too and I have also told people who shrugged me off and were rude and I said 'Why don't you hit yourself in the neck and head with a hammer and tell me how that FEELS OKAY?!' LOL.
Fibro is no joke. Hang in there..
