Yes I was alone last year. And the year before too. I was invited both x- mass eve and x- mass day over my sister in laws but not sure I will make either of them. Yes the same with me too! No calls or cards. But why should the holidays be different then the rest of the year.

Oh Charlene, fibro is not only painful physically but emotionally as well. My family of origin & nearly all my "former" friends don't ever call me or come see me anymore. I know it's difficult for them; not knowing what to say or maybe not wanting to hear what we have to say. The hardest part of fibro is how isolated and alone I feel most of the time. I know we have each other but it would really comfort my heart if my family & friends would at least make an effort to see me or at least ask how I am feeling...:(

I am sorry you can't make it to your inlaws. I live alone and my son will come over Christmas morning. my son and I got invited to a couple dinners so I don't have to cook.

If I was you I would go to the local supper put on by your community. There is plenty of food and fellowship. I have gone before and it is really nice and a lot of people go that are alone on the holidays. I have gone and the holiday cheer is wonderful.

If your family isn't there for you then make your own holiday! No one should have to be alone on Christmas.

I'm sorry your family is so mean. They don't bring a plate home for you? I'd lock them out... Lol. I don't tolerate bad behavior.

I'll definitely be all alone for Christmas this year. Hubby is heading south to visit his mother and their family. I'm so sad that he has chosen to go, but it is his choice and I can't interfere. I worry too about being alone for a week when I don't know anyone here in town. Since I don't leave the house anymore (except for doctor's visits), it's so lonely here even when he's home. I know I suffer from depression too, but how is this not supposed to make me feel unwanted. If I had carried my children to term instead of miscarrying, then he would be here.. at home.. with his family. Now he considers his mom family and home. Meh, what can you do?

Oh My, Isn't there anyway that you could go out for Christmas to visit with your family or have them to your home?

there is no way i can go to x-mas making it to the dr and back is hard then i am done for the day sometimes longer i am in bed 90% of the time because my back hurts to bad to sit or stand i dont drive anymore either even though i keep my van because it is more comfy than my hubbys jeep i was going to try and see a new pain managment dr but it has to wait till i can get other problems solved first thank you all for your replies hugs charlene

Sweetheart it sounds like to me you need to do some communicating with you husband and tell him how you feel. Maybe you can switch every other year or something! but that is totally not fair and causes you serious depression. Why couldn't every other year eveyone come to your house just long enough to open presents or something...anything! But i really feel like you need to be more open with your hubby about your feelings. *hugs ~dixie

dixie it wouldnt matter im in bed all the time i would feel put out and overwhelmed if they came here along with having to cook its better it is there i just feel left out my hubby is great but he is also a man if nobody hands a plate to bring home to me he not going to ask thanks again charlene

Yeah Christmas is a lonely depressing time when you our on your own. I know. This year they are trying to put on a turkey dinner for us who are alone and that will be nice. We can always meet here on Christmas day! hugs and God Bless marilyn

I have been alone in the past...and I did not handle it real well...but made it through...am haveing a quiet christmas as my last 10 have been...no more big family get togethers...I miss it, but quiet is nice to...for me tho I would rather cook for alot of people then just a few...the mess is about the same...lol

Well for once, this year I am off on Christmas, will be with my sister, but will be tough trying to act like I'm feeling ok when I am so tired that I feel like I am going to fall down, and trying not to show the pain.
At her house they don't want anything or anyone to bring the mood down. So I will just try and get through it. I love them, but get sick of having to pretend to be better than I am. Sorry for the rant I just needed to get that out.

yes it is the pain that stops me even if i try to fight through it after an hour my whole body gets really shaky and i become weak sometimes as long as a month so i try to stick with what works 10 to 20 min up then back to bed for an hour or so to rest i clean my house in between i have always been a little ocd with it hugs charlene
