Has anyone ever purchased a portable hand held ultrasound unit? I often have to go to physical therapy for three chronic areas and they always use ultrasound and it helps. Medicare has a cap on physical therapy allowance per year- so I max out quickly. I was looking at a 98 dollar machine at medical products online. I have purchased accessories for my tens unit from this site and have not had any problems with the quality or the company itself.
Surely they dont come with a screen where you can see the parts of your body inside, can you imagine plus the cost of one

I just did a google search and they are readily available and most I looked at are around $100. Years ago I was able to get a tens unit covered by insurance. I wonder if any insurance companies would cover an ultrasound machine for home? It would be cheaper for them in the long run as compared to physical therapy.

My doc called medicare and asked for a "single case agreement" for me to get the alternative therapies that he prescribed for me due to the fact that medication was not working for me. They ended up covering 75% of my portable home ultra-sound unit, as well as covering water therapy, massage, accupuncture, and electric muscle stimulation. You might try talking to your doc about it, mine was very receptive and supportive of it because he didn't like me constantly being on pain meds.
