Good morning! For those who celebrate Easter, it's the Thursday before, and I learned today it's called, Grundonnerstag in German.
Green. Thunder. Day.
Yep.
Maundy, apparently, derives from Latin for "commandment". Which makes sense. When I was a kid (oy, in the age of dinosaurs), it was a Catholic Holy Day of Obligation. Or we were told it was, at least.

Well, here we are.
DS is working! HURRAY!
Today's cuteness: Thunderstorm woke us up at 430 AM. Dahlia is scared of thunder. (As she is of most things, admittedly.) Well, she dozed off near me, and when I stood, she woke, thinking it was time to try for a second breakfast. I gave her a cuddle, put her down again, and *flop* .... Feline puddle! yeah, she's not really all taht hungry, she'll sleep, thanks...

Nice bit from Johns HOpkins on dealing with loneliness in lockdown. You can scroll to the list, past the first couple paragraphs.

Happy birthday to the first municipal (public-supported) public library in the US! It opened today in 1833 in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Yay! Library! Books!
Big day for baseball fans in history: in 1912, the first exhibition game was held at Boston's famed Fenway, between the Bosox and Harvard; a year later, in 1913, Ebbets' Field opened for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
In 1921, the Riga Treaty ended the Russian-Polish war that followed World War One. Western Europe, you're welcome. Had Poland not stood up, Russia (and thus Lenin/Stalin/Soviets) would've rolled right thorugh to a war-weakened western Europe. Never heard of the 1920-21 war? Most haven't, outside of Poland and specialist histories.
In 1986, the TV evening soap opera "Dallas" announced that actor Patrick Duffy was returning ---- tho' his character had died. This started what is now infamously known as "the year that was just a bad dream" shtick. It had been used before, but ... Well, usually in comedies.
In 1998, more than 150 died while on hajj, when a stampede occurred during the holy pilgrimage of Islam.

And today, in 2020, I woke up without wanting to scream at my husband,a fact directly related to the pan of brownies I baked yesterday afternoon, I am certain! *passes around plate*
Hang in there, all, and keep hanging on to each other! We can get through it, and we will get through the challenges...
PUMA POWER!

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...
Leo, our dog is afraid of thunder. He'll show up on the bed and want under the covers. I guess he thinks we'll be able to protect him!
It's strange not having a list of places to go and things to do. I'm enjoying the quiet but thinking that it is going to be crazy for a couple of months once we get going again. I'll have at least three doctor's appointments to make. I'm just hoping I can get in to them without waiting three months!
I need to back some muffins and/or peanut butter cookies today. Both are box mixes that need to be used up. DH will be happy! He loves peanut butter cookies and enjoyed having the lemon poppy seed muffins I made last week. We both have a sweet tooth!
Hoping everyone has a good day!
I was planning to sleep in past 6 am, but the boys had other plans. Nox gets "aggressively cuddly" when he's hungry...basically super loud purrs, head butting with force, crawling under the covers, up my shirt, grabbing my hands or drawstrings on pants, etc. Hard to get annoyed when he's being so cute about it but I was trying to wait it out, until Noah vomited a hairball on the counter. *sigh* Today I need to get a couple miles in on the treadmill, walk Miki (btw yesterday was her 6th birthday! She was so cute in her little party hat), do a little cooking, a load of laundry and a little cleaning. It's so much easier doing just a little bit every day than trying to fit it into a weekend. I also want to do some wood burning. Oh and bills. I'm losing track of what day it is. But I'm not feeling lonely really...obviously I'm texting and talking to a few people but have only talked to my neighbor in person (from a distance, her kids love Miki so I let her know the situation so I don't put them at risk). Knowing myself, Im not surprised by this, but is that normal? Even my most introverted friends are sick of staying home. Idk, maybe I'm thinking too hard about it. But I need to get moving, this has taken a while to write. Hugs everyone
Leo, brownies...that sounds good. The only skiddish animal we have for loud noises is Tank. But he's calm as can be if we are around. And then Iz and Pudge, they flee when people come. Iz is getting better about that and she comes to greet them after she senses the calm in our voices.
Hope today continues to be a good day for you.
Pained, when your home for a while and you loose all sense of days of the week and such, where everything become a blur....and then you start to head out again, it will feel surreal at first. But then with each day passing, your brain settles back into that pattern again and you're all good.
It's kinda strange how our brains work and modify that way.
I have a ton of baking on my to do list. And the bananas keep turning too fast here so I think I'll be making muffins and breads today. Andrew loves banana chocolate chip muffins!
Miki, I think it is normal when you're self isolating and then when you encounter another real person to get chatty with them. I see it in myself...all stay at home moms feel this way. It's half the reason why a 1-1/2hr grocery trip turns into a 2-3hr trip. You just randomly start striking up a conversation with strangers.
I witness my hubs do it yesterday when we stopped to get some gas. He went in to grab something and started randomly talking about dry skin (sanitizing woes).
Hope you can ease into a great day at home today.
Angela, yes, we got hit with that cold snap also. Got home yesterday to some big flakes pelting us. Glad your hunny is making everything better there.
Today is another whirlwind of stuff to do. Therapies at 3:30, school stuff, kitchen duty, should do some laundry. You know...being all domestic and stuff. LOL.
So with that being said, I ought to get going. Hope everyone has a great day!
I am really suffering with the fibro. Today just trying to get showered and dressed ended in me ugly crying to my husband. I have now been told by my doctors that I am not going to be able to return to working in an office. I don't know how I am going to make this transition and praying my company will work with me. I am so depressed and don't know how to draw myself out of it especially with all the COVID restrictions.
Sending hugs and dark chocolate to Fantod, Leo, Twin and our entire lovely group.
