I  have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for several months now, lately I have been having a lot of joint swelling and pain. Also a lot of bone pain, shoulder blades, pelvis, calves and forearms. Is this typical with fibro because just saw a Rheumatologist today that said that all this is part of fibromyalgia.

Hi! I think yes it's probably all related. However, still a good idea to rule out other issues. Many other diseases go along with fibro. Have the doc check you for all issues.
Lab tests don't Always tell the dr. Everything. The tests are not too accurate .

Welcome, hello, and by all means, *please* see a doctor (a different one!). We've seen people literally die b/c someone blew it off as "just fibro". This was many years ago on this board, but the memory lingers. Also, it isn't always fibro. You may have been mis-diagnosed, the doctor may have missed a co-morbid issue (coexisting issue, sorry), and fibro primarily is neuromuscular. Joints have never swollen or so forth for me in my two decades with it (diagnosed). Other reasons, yes. Fibro, not yet.
Also, if you don't own "Fibromyalgia for Dummies", please consider it. It's a go-to for many of us on this board, and for our family and friends.

Welcome! I agree with Leo. Joint swelling is not part of Fibromyalgia. Get copies of your medical records and get a second opinion. Many times, people diagnosed with Fibromyalgia have underlying health issues.

You can find "Fibromyalgia for Dummies" on Amazon. A good book that gives the reader a comprehensive overview of this complex illness. Take care.

Thank you. Will be purchasing this book. Actually the Rheumatologist I saw was at UAB hospital in Birmingham. I thought they would be the best in Alabama.
