HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF SJOGREN'S SYNDROME?

HI! I WENT TO MY EYE DOCTOR TODAY. HE HAS BEEN TREATING ME WITH DRY EYES. I WAS TALKING TO HIM TODAY AND I MENTIONED I HAD FIBROMYALGIA. I ASKED HIM IF THIS COULD HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH FIBRO. HE SAID YES. THEN HE GAVE ME THE NAME-SJOGREN'S SYNDROME. I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS EVER HEARD OF SJOGREN'S SYNDROME OR BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH IT. MY EYES GET VERY TEARY AND IRRATATED. HE TOLD ME TO WET A WASH CLOTH WITH WARM WATER AND PUT IT ON MY EYES. THEN TO USE EYE DROPS UP TO 4 TIMES A DAY. AND HE GAVE ME A SUBSCRIPTION TO USE AT BED TIME.
I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAD IT.
NOW ON A LIGHTER NOTE. WHEN I GOT HOME THIS AFTERNOON I SAW ABOUT 4 ROBINS IN OUR SIDE YARD. I HOPE THAT MEANS THAT SPRING IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER.

It's an autoimmune disorder. There are certain autoantibodies they test for. They can also do a biopsy. I think it can also cause joint pain. I have dry eyes and dry mouth, but the autoantibodies are considered to be in the normal range.

My eye doctor "diagnosed" me with rosacea and proceeded to give me a prescription for four months of antibiotics, a completely out of date treatment, but I didn't know that at the time.

Sjogrens Syndrome is an autoimmune disorder that should be diagnosed and treated by a rheumatologist, as there could be very serious consequences.

I have dry eyes too, my eye doc didn't give me a diagnosis, but told me to use eye drops several times a day. But yes I"ve heard of it before.

My aunt has it, and my rheumatologist has thought I may, too. But now he is leaning more towards mixed connective tissue disorder instead. I can't have the lip biopsy, b/c local anesthetic doesn't work on me & having someone cut into my mouth w/o it ...no thank you. I don't have the specific Sjogren's sntibodies in my blood, but that's not a definitive negative. Why can't autoimmune disorders be easy? Do you have dry mouth and other symptoms, too?

Yes, my best friend was diagnosed with Sjogren's first and then Fibromyalgia a couple of years later. Some people with Fibromyalgia have both.

It is an auto immune disorder. Usually a biopsy of a salivary gland will determine if you have it. Dry eyes can be one of the symptoms. You should see a rheumatologist who is familiar with Sjogren's and be tested for it. As PeaceN2You mentioned it is an illness with very serious consequences especially without proper treatment.
