There is no reason to feel ashamed for coming home from work because you were ill. The cause doesn't matter. Getting sick is part of the human condition and daily life.

I've been disabled since 2009. I had a career in the film industry which I loved. It was a hard decision. But, I have a much better quality of life now that I have some control. I can rest when I need to and so on.

I used a company called Allsup. You can find them online. They have a 97% success rate. I was very impressed with the way that they handled my case. I was approved on the first try in 6 months. That is an anomaly; most people wait longer.

You need to make sure that your doctor's will support this decision. And, that there is no other job that you can do. Good luck to you and take care.

I worked for many years with fibro. I had a private office so no one was keeping a constant eye on me. I got my work done, but I could have been more productive.

I imagine with a job like yours, you are not able to just zone out when you need to.

I have been on disability from 1997 until my 66th birthday. Now, it is straight social security.

You need to get a copy of your medical records and read them. Do you have any other impairments in addition to fibro ? Since today os the first time that you've had to come home from work, I'm not sure if your condition is severe enough to meet SSA criteria. If it isn't when you make your initial application, you can appeal. In the 12-24 months it will take to get a haering it is possible that your condition will get severe enough to meet the criteria. You must prove that you're not able to perform SGA, which is making $1,090. Do you have problems and require help doing activities of daily living ? Your medical records need to be detailed and the fomrs you fill out and what you say needs to be consistent with your medical records. Our drs don't write down everythng that we say or everything that they tell us.

Fantod took the words right out of my mouth:) There is no reason to feel ashamed about being ill. I hope that others are not making you feel that way because unless a person has fibro they have no idea what a person goes through who has it. I came down with it in 2007 and was dx'ed in 2009. I am still coming to grips with it and mourn the loss of things I used to be able to do and now can't. I believe all this just goes with the territory of having fibro.

After being denied SSD two times, I tried using Allsup after hearing about somebody else's success using them and was approved the third time. Like Fantod, I highly recommend them. It wouldn't hurt to talk to them that is for sure. A gentle hug to you also:) Please keep us updated okay. Take care!
