There is a very interesting article in Elle magazine this month about a woman who was very ill and for the longest time could not find the cause of her illness. It turned out to be an allergic reaction to genetically modified corn. Two of her main symptoms were clearly allergic, runny nose and skin rash. But many of her other symptoms such as tiredness and pain are familiar to us.
Two points, anyone with allergy symptoms to whom this might apply? Getting rid of corn products in our environment is extremely difficult. she even found it in toothpaste, paper cups, and her soap dish.

When you modify genetics for ONE trait, you will (whether or not you know it) modify other traits. COnsider: An experiment raised foxes in captivity. Only the foxes who were of gentle temperament were bred to make more foxes. ANd within even a few generations? PHYSICAL changes occurred in the foxes. This was done to show how wolves eventually became the umpteen dog breeds we know today and so on.
With that in mind, ask yourself: If they genetically modify corn for drought, insect resistance, rapid growth, and I don't know what else.... What says that doesn't alter other aspects of the corn that render it "unrecognizable" as a "Friend" to us instead of a "foe"? IMHO---nothing.
This is why I get worried about GMO stuff. We have no idea what we're doing.
My hteory? If you have a highly sensitive system to allergens in the first place, something this small could affect you.
All things are possible. Not all things are probable. But I'll weigh in on the side of "Probable" for this.
GMO food has done great things---but at what cost? That's the answer we're probably getting the hard way. And I'm not against GMO flat-out---but we have to be mindful of effects "downstream".
INteresting thing to consider.
The article cited an alarming statistic. They say that there has been about a 50% increase in allergies among children that is not accounted by over reporting/increased awareness.
