Hello everyone! I haven't written in awhile since going back to work but I am having problems with the pain level (too much stress with working) and my doctor talked me into trying Gabapentin. It does take the edge off the pain level however when it wears off I find myself in more pain then I started with. I thought maybe it feels that way because I have not had bad pain for the 12 hours it works and then the pain feels worse. Then I have to take more of it.
Does anyone have experience with this stuff? I would sure like to know how others feel on it.

I tried it for a short time, but I had side effects that didn't make it worth taking. Mind you, I have a high sensitivity to all fibro meds and haven't been able to stay on any of them very long.

The gabapentin made me dizzy, where it was hard to walk. Like you, it took the edge off but not for a long period.

Ive never used this but it sounds like you need to talk to your Dr. And maybe try something else. Best of luck!

Hi Peggy:

I tried the Gabapentin on 2 different occasions - it does not agree with me at all, after about 2 days. The side effects were not worth any benefits - and I would feel better on Day 1 and 2, that's when I would start feeling worse. Ugh. It's a balancing act.

I'm on it and I take 800 mg (3) to (4) times a day. It helps me. Gentle Hugs to you

i take 800 3x it helps, but i thk we just get used to it or somethin cos it helps less eventually. they have me on hydrocodone too and i find that this helps a great deal more and ive barely needed to up it. be ready to handle the stress of being on clock for taking the gabapentin :/ that alone has taken a toll on my life. good luck x

Thank you for all of your replies. I am going to stop taking it. The side effects are not worth it and it does not get rid of the pain it just takes the edge off.
All of these meds have side effects. I think I'll stick to the anti inflammatory and bear the pain. This is no way to live but we don't have much choice unless we want to live like zombies.
