Well, here goes again.
Autonomic Nervous System Disorder is very much a part of Fibromyalgia as we are finding as we age a little. It's not hot flashes. I have them under control. But like you, I sweat profusely at the slightest activity or as little as one degree temperature increase. I went all winter without a coat last year.
Your Autonomic Nervous System is everything your body does without you having to consciously think about it. Like Blood Pressure, salt to water ratio, digestion and temperature of course. Our bodies have just gone haywire.
I am currently waiting for Cleveland Clinic to get one of four machines in the nation up and running-- it's a sweat chamber in which they seat you all powdered up in order to see where you start sweating first and most profusely. They were supposed to have it ready in July, but they keep putting it off. I don't know what can be done for me even with this special test, but as least I'm trying. It is unbearable, isn't it? I remember a priest we had when I was young and we went to Catholic Church. The poor man just mopped and mopped his sweating face, head and neck the whole time he was saying mass. Of course no one questioned it 35 or 40 years ago. I suppose that's what he had, too.
I have fans all over the house where ever I will be sitting for any length of time. Putting or make-up, sitting on the couch, the kitchen. I sleep with a fan all winter, too. It has pretty well isolated me for the warm months of the year. I've given up on pushing myself to go out anymore.
I just stay home with my cats.
This disease is proving to be a disease of the brain more than anything else. Doctors are ill equipped to deal with it.
Well that's all I know about sweating. It starts in the hippocampus, which gets hardened and granular with our disease. That's what drives the Thyroid and many other bodily functions. There's no cure for it as far as I know. I've been on and off thyroid pills over the years, but to no avail. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in 1995 after a needle biopsy. The gland was rubbery and they had difficulty extracting any cells. Hashimoto's means your thyroid works some of the time.
Well, that's all I know about it. If I find out anything new, I'll be the first to post it.
