Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Please call your Doctor again. Buying healthy foods is wonderful but you need to call your Doctor and let him or her know what is going on and make an appointment to see your Doctor. Better to be safe than sorry.
Please let me know what happens.
So, here's my last and best advice. If you're Doc does not refer you to a Cardio Doc, please go visit mine. She's only 30 minutes from you. Just do an initial eval, tell her you have fibro and the rest of what has happened. Like I said, she'll give you the quick and dirty and you won't have to mess with it again. Dr. Fotini Chalkias (many docs know her by reputation). aka, Dr. Fo. She's very gentle and non intimidating.
YOU ARE YOUR OWN BEST ADVOCATE. Family and Docs aside, only YOU KNOW your body and listen to it.
I have learned over the last 4 years, that instead of going round and round with my old family doctor and her trying to fix it, that it's best to just go to specialist when my gut and body are telling me something is wrong. I'm not always right, but it checks it off the list of ongoing health issues we have to deal with and it's TOTALLY worth the time and effort.
And, I'm glad you have appreciated us chiming in. I know I sound alarmist, so I didn't want to scare you off, but I suffered with a severe heart condition for almost 2 years until my heart started failing and I went out traveling and making it worse instead of nipping it in the bud, so I do feel your anxiety and pain and just hope you keep feeling better. Premenopausal (like we are) women are prime for heart events. Good on you for watching the Go Red Videos!! They are so informative, like a doctor's visit!!
OK, I'll be checking back to see how you're doing.
P.S. Cut the SALT and CAFFEINE completely OUT for now and your bp and hr will go down ;-)) Dr. JP signing out!
I'm sorry. I sure that I'm completely or comfortably numb (just another one of those lovely bipolar songs me and my "family" relate to so well.....) then I read all of you guys posts and I suddenly remember that I'm actually a HUMAN again!!! My doctor visit was the proverbial icing on the cake, or the hot green sauce on the enchilada .
I actually almost forgot about the visit Monday morning. I woke up at 3:30 in the am because my husband was trying to get the flashlight behind our head (on our old 80's headboard :-) ). And I woke up suddenly from a dream about me and my mom and I told him, "You better not pour that on my head!" Cuz I was still in the dream I suppose and thought he was my mom. I honestly thought me and my mom were sleeping together and she was about to pour something on my head!! As a prank. Then my husband got all mad at me cuz I apparently was trying to stick my Bach's Rescue Remedy behind his head. I guess I had fallen asleep holding it. That's what my husband told me and I was thinking, "If you knew I was holding it as I slept why did you not friggin take it OUT OF MY HAND!!!" So I got mad at him! I got up cuz I can no longer see the clock and thought it said 5:30. I went in the living room and saw a June bug. Then there were TWO June bugs!! I stomped all over the room trying to kill them before they flew in my hair. I went and got the Echolls tablets that kill roaches and started throwing them all over the place. Even throwing them under my sons' closed doors! Everytime I heard a buzz I was jumping around squealing in pure terror! I finally found them and sent them on...wherever it is they go.so then I figured I deserved some sweet tea and drank and watched the Murder channel (Discovery ID). My husband was kinda mad when he woke up cuz he said he heard me stomping and squealing and he couldn't fall back asleep (poor poor baby). So then I got dressed and went to Sonic for things I shall not disclose for fear of JP's wrath ;-) !! I was still mad and if you guys have ever seen a bipolar girl still in the middle of a fibro flare when she's mad...well then....you know what I mean about the Sonic, better that than driving all the way to the south of Austin, which takes me a good hour or more and wastes a lot of gas ( like I could actually care about that!). So I ate and drank. Then it was suddenly 8:10 and my mom called to wish me luck at the dr. I then remembered my 9:00 appt. fibro fog.
So to make this really long story short I will just say this: my doctor of 5 years barely remembered who I was. The new electronic med charts have my meds right and like two of my medical issues and that is that. I could get really sick, die and come back and sue their things about 3 times over! Seriously NOT joking! I have lesions on my brain and I spent at least a good 5 minutes listening to him try to guess what that problem was much less the diagnosis. No mention of my erratic blood pressure issue. No mention of fibro or CFIDS. no mention of EBV the nasty foe who started it all. No new meds to treat the pain I was going through either. You know us bipolar girls!! Always looking for a new drug fix!! He thought my blood pressure was a "Uh huh....well I can't give you more BP meds cuz your BP is fine right now. Hmmmm....must be stress. Just take another Losartan when your systolic is over 170". Then me: "What about my diastolic pressure readings? They sometimes get pretty high". Then him: "well you can't have one high without the other high". Ummmm....YEAH!!! That's like the reason I went to see you for in the first place you stupid excuse fool for a doctor!! He would not commit to saying it was workplace stress "no need to rock that corporate boat any little lady". And as he was leaving I said something else about my BP to his retreating back and he called out over his shoulder, "Oh yeah, I will get you a referral to a cardiologist for that pain you said you were having!". Even forgot I never know how to find the exit....for real....very directional challenged.
I didn't stay to make my 4 weeks appointment, after all I MAY BE DEAD BY THEN!!!! Went to the parking lot of the In and Out Burgers and cried my eyes out. Told my husband on the phone that I was going to leave. Was going to simply get on 35 and go west and see where it led me ( probably Maine since I had no idea where west was). He talked me out of it. Got some of those burgers and a pink lemonade and went home. On the way there I decided I was going to buy one of those nifty pink lemonade machines that drizzle the juice down all of the plastic sides AND I was gonna pick up a pack of Virginia Slims 120's. No longer cared about life. Just wanted to die. Bipolar girl in the middle of a fibro flar and feeling sad...hmmmm...pattern there, maybe my MEDS ARE OFF!!! Lifetime and the news always have it right when they tell you about the manic mom painting her baby's room psychedelic colors and don't forget the poor teenage boy who went into the school to kill everyone and himself but the secretary talked him down. He cried and cried, wanted to die and carefully handed her the gun as he lay on his face and waited for the SWAT team....he was off his meds (true story and a sad one). The guy on Fox News said if the secretary had a gun she could've just blown his brains out. Yeah. Try saying that about other minorities. See what I mean about fibro and bipolar?? No one really cares....
Anyway, that night, last night I guess, I had these weird thing happen where my eye freaked out and felt like there was a bug in it. I kept screaming at my husband to get it out and he kept saying "What! What! Get what out! Why is your mouth like that!" Didn't know my mouth was "like that"....TIA maybe? Precursor to a heart attack maybe? Or just bipolar girl antics once again. Well, with this long butt letter filled with several descriptive anecdotes, my fancy vocab and many references to bipolar one has to wonder if my meds are off. Thought I was stable but stress does funny things to this fibro girl.
No more. The end. This is the end my friend. No just a line from a Doors song. I guess I will go on. I will drink Gatorade, pray a lot and go see JP's cardiologist. Only 30 miles away and much easier to get to than that fools office in Cedar Park. Goodnight sweeties. My brothers and sisters. May God hold you in his gentle hand and rock you softly to sleep. Put you in your beds of soft white clouds and sing pretty Irish lullabies to you all night long. Man! When this ole fibro, bipolar girl gets going she could write a darn book!!!!
Deep, painless sleep.
Jacquie
Your sons are hilarious. Get your sleep so you can get fit in for an appointment....tell them your readings so she knows how serious it is and doesn't schedule you for 2 weeks out. PM me if you have any trouble, k?
(hugs) and blessings :)
Keep track of your blood pressure at least 3 times per day, once when you wake up, once around lunch time and once before bed. And take it if you are feeling badly too.
Bring that list with you to your next appointment.
Did you tell the doctor about the jaw pain etc? Can't believe he would just blow that off. Did he do any labs? any bloodwork? A simple blood test for CPK will check if your heart was damaged. Did he do an EKG?
I guess you just went to your regular GP instead of cardiologist?
Sorry I cannot read all the "story telling" parts, I skimmed to find the parts that were about your blood pressure and if you went to the doctor. (don't be offended, I just can't read all that extra stuff when something so important is going on, and I'm quickly skimming to find where you talk about the blood pressure issues and doctor. Hurts my eyes too much to read really long posts too. not your fault, just explaining In case I missed it and asked something you already answered). ((hugs))) feel better, and hope you can get in to see the cardiologist asap!
