Flu+ Fibro

I finally realized why when I get sick, why I get SO, SO sick. My doctor told me that it's always going to be worse than a normal person getting a cold or flu.

Do any of you have the same problem? I've been sick going on 3 weeks.

Yes. It takes me so long. Average of 3 times longer than a normal person.

Yes, I don't get flu or colds very often but when I do...well it takes weeks to get on top of and keep flaring up again. I was wondering if its because of the Fibro too

I haven't thought about flu...I'm working on staying healthy as much as possible...staying away from milk and foods that set me off. I have noticed that my wounds/bug bites are not healing like they use to. Seems like the collagen/elastin is healing wrong. Anyone else?

I get colds and flus all the time... and it takes forever to get over them.

As for bug bites, cuts, etc... it takes them weeks to heal. I have a very small cut on my hand I don't even know how I got it and its been three weeks now and still not healed.

The first 10 years of having Fibro it seemed like I would get a bad cold every few months and it would last for weeks. My immune system seemed to be completely shot.

In 2008 I started taking 400mg daily of Guaifenesin every day and I have not had a cold since. It seems like a miracle but I also have CFS and many with CFS rarely get colds. Not sure what to think, just glad I no longer get them. Knock on wood!

After I got laid flat by H1N1 in 2009 for 6 weeks, I caved and got flu shots. So much better than risking the horrors.

I typically do not miss work because of my fibro but once a year I get something that knocks me on my butt and it knocks me down hard and takes me a few weeks to feel back to my old tired self. I think that is just par for the course for people with fibro.

I don't get any sicker with a cold or flu than I ever did, but it takes forever to get any energy back. Used to take a few days - now it's weeks or sometimes months.
