I did try Cymbalta. I was seeing a neurologist for another issue, and he put me on it. I was on it a whopping 3 days. In that time , I went from a somewhat smiling, and animated, person to a woman who had NO animation. My blood pressure shot up. It ended up being 155/112 on my worse day (day 3). I felt like a lump of poop! LOL! If a train was headed my way, I wouldn't have had the gumption to move. The nausea... which I have every day.... became horrible! I
went off it in 3 days, and called the Dr's to tell them. I had to call off work because I felt horrible! Even my co-workers said I looked depressed. I haven't tried savella.
The Rheumatologist put me on Lyrica. I had a great inital response, but within two months had to go back because I started breaking through. I get the strangest pains in my legs. I constantly have pain in my upper back, which I always describe it as popping rice pops.
Funny thing, before the Lyrica I didn't even know my muscles hurt because my joints were screaming so loudly. After a couple days on Lyrica, I "heard" my muscles. It was the strangest thing! Before he upped me from 25 to 50 mg, it was as a dial would turn up. Like a gas stove being turned from low to high. I would have a slow progression of pain until I was very uncomfortable.
I've been hurting since I was 14. I am now 41. I can't believe it's been this long, and just now am finding "relief."
The Rheumatologist is a sweetie! He's been so kind to me. I'm usually written off, within minutes, of explaining my symptoms. I don't even try to talk when I see a Dr anymore. I just write a list, and hand it to the Dr. LOL!
I have learned to value sleep. I also have Epstein Barr, and if I don't sleep, I tend to not only get the pain from the Fibro, but get physically ill. It's usually a cold that lasts for a while. :::sigh::: I am taking the melatonin but it doesn't seem to really be working.
I've spent the last 4 nights tossing and turning. Doesn't help any I also have a pinched nerve in my lower back, and cervical stenosis. My arms go numb and I wake up with my hands closed in the mornings. Sometimes, it takes me 15-20 minutes before I can open my hands to use them.
I am slowly coming to the realization I may have to deal with this forever. No one has been able to answer why my hands do what they do. :::tears:::
I've heard from other people that Cymbalta works great! It sounds like you have had much success!! That's awesome! I hope your experimentation doesn't end up being a long one, and that you can hone in on what will work for you!!
I'm afraid to go off the Lyrica for fear of not feeling as "good" as I do on it. I no longer need a 3 hour nap, after getting (supposedly) 8 hours of sleep.
Thank you for your hug, and response. It's great to have someone who understand what you're going through. Most of my co-workers, and family don't really understand. They don't understand why I get fatigued so easily, and try to measure everything I do. Sad thing is, my co-workers are in healthcare.
Take care! :0)
Here's hoping for less pain for us all!
XOXO
