i onc e told a coworker, walk to work every day to know how i feel. he lived thirty miles away. that shut him up, LOL!
Thanks for sharing that nice story.
My area manager on the other hand was brilliant. She is seeking a report from my gp and is putting me in touch with occupational health to try and find ways of keeping me in the workplace and avoiding me having to take sick leave. We also discussed reducing my hours - something my line manager failed to do!
I have a great boss and coworkers. We did a river cleanup project Friday and instead of making fun or just leaving me behind, they were awesome and went out of their way to help me get across rocks, climb up and down, and when I was tired and had to stop and catch my breath, a couple of them stayed with me and chatted like they were just hanging out, rather than helping me.
Having people who try to understand and help out can make the difference between being able to work, or not.
I used to explain it by saying that it feels like I have the flu multiplied by fifty (only without the fever) and that a semi-truck has rolled over me at the same time. My symptoms have improved greatly over time, so now I just explain that some days my symptoms are mild, but I have times when I have painful flare-ups that can incapacitate me.
I'm sorry for what you are going through, but it is nice to know I'm not the only one.
That really touched my heart and of course I don't even know them! That HAD... to have been... a great day! ;)
