Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
But I highly recommend folks reading it.....it's long, but worth it, I thought.

ITunesU has a set of videos from University of Arizona, psychiatric grand rounds. The video from 12/12/12 with Snake Oil as part of the title is EXCELLENT and very relevant to us. There are only a few minutes in the muddle that are technical. But, the main messages still come through, it lists some interesting strategies to promote well being, and in the end in the question answer, the speaker addresses fibromyalgia. I already downloaded the app mentioned.
Doctors funding must have come from the makers of Lyrica and Cymbalta both I can not take, funny it did talk about FM and that
I" will say 1 thing, though: patients with fibromyalgia are perhaps some of the most sensitive-to-medication side effect patients I have ever met"
I find they are still trying to peg us round blocks into one square hole, new reshearch same results. That stress is the tigger, we are all depressed and cranky from lask of sleep.
My question is still how is I did I do on the test, I'd like to know the answer before I agree with the Doc's and....
I . Take a morning nap.
2. Snapped & flip out on the poor sales clerk.
3. Get abused and molsested.
4. Try to do my taxes as I make dinner, clean the house, balance the household budget, deal with the insurance company, remember to pick my husband up after work, calm a child down after a panic attack, deal with both hot flashes and cold weather at the same time.
Stressers sure thats the real answer to the cause of FM.
Hey there is a nice bridge down the street I am trying to sell anyone lookking to buy one? Its named after Lyrica and Cymbalta its call the Snake Oil bridge.
I don't like to tie the cause of FM to one thing. They are stating that Emotional causes Physical and it is all once again in our heads.
Yes, they did bring up the fact that we are extra sensitve to meds, and didn't address the fact that many of us can't take the FDA approved ones for that very reason. Then what do they do for us?
But after reading that article, I did feel validated and hopeful. What I took from it was that we have a very real, physical reason for experiencing the pain, fatigue, cognitive issues, and sensitivities.
Fibromyalgia: What Primary Care Physicians Should Know
I didn't find a test.
Yes, fibrolizzy It very clearly says that it is VERY real and that it is both mind and body, not as "in our heads" but REALLY the chemicals that are in our bodies and that it affects everything about us. Also, let me tell you my experience, the "therapeutic dose" of Cymbalta was too much, made me irritable, but a half dose (30 mg.) along with a small dose of anti-inflammatory worked after about 12 weeks. I can't exercise like I used to and I have to watch what I eat like a hawk, but I am fairly "normal" now whereas 2 years ago I thought I was 6 months from the casket because I couldn't believe that anyone could hurt so much and not be dying.
