I'll have to set that up on Tivo to record - ANY information is good information and I'd love to hear what he has to say. Dr Oz was on Oprah last week and did a pretty nasty hatchet job on pain meds and the people who take them - lots of "generalizations" and statistics with no real balance of saying "there are people who NEED them and take them responsibly." Oprah made the statement that "Americans just can't deal with pain!" and I was ready to crawl through the TV set and beat her senseless.

Didn't see that Oprah show. Maybe people who have these feelings about pain should have FM for one day and I think they just MIGHT change their minds. I believe on the Dr. Oz show you can submit questions after the show. Maybe we can get some new information about XMRV.

I have his app. on my iPhone and it has a lot of really great info. Sadly, a lot of the supplements he suggests are not available in Canada. I didnt know he was going to be on Dr. Oz. I'll be sure to check it out on Friday!

Glad to hear you are going to check this show. Maybe if we inundate them with a lot of questions and comments, it might, just MIGHT make people realize that we, with FM really do exist and suffer.

Most are similar enough. eg. 5-HTP, D-Ribose etc. If there's one you can't find locally, just let me know and I'll try and find it online (Canada).

Carrie - the one I was interested in, Acetyl L-Carnitine is available, but with a prescription only! It used to be avail. as a supplement - I used to take it when I was into body-building.

I always order from the same local store - they told me it was banned a few years ago and then available by script only.

Im looking for something similar - I think I found it in another amino-acid, but I have to do more research.

My pain doc had to retire. When I was going to shop for a new one, I discovered by calling around that not one of them would treat for just fibromyalgia!

Considering that Oprah not only has never had fibromyalgia OR given birth, I find it ironic that she would make a blanket statement like "Americans just can't deal with pain". Puhleeze!!!!!!

I am currently not in need of narcs thanks to savella and lyrica thank God. Never had my integrity brought into question until my pain got so debilitating, my quality of life took a nosedive and I had to seek help prior to both s&l. Don't think I'll be supporting Dr Oz or Oprah.

I've been taking acetyl l-carnitine for several years now. It really does improve energy. It supports mental sharpness by stimulating acetylcholine production. It also protects neurological function. I really notice when I stop taking it.

My intention to watch Dr. Teitlebaum on the Dr. Oz show was to bring more attention to our plight. Thinking if we bombarded them with questionsd and comments more people would take notice.

I used to record all of Oprah's shows but I think Oprah has gotten too preachy and judgemental...just my opinion. I've seen quite a few of her shows that deal with addiction to pain meds and similar subjects...she isn't exactly helping the 'cause' of fibro patients.

Allison I totally agree - she's more "against" whatever she's talking about these days - whether it's gastric bypass (if you don't want it, don't freakin' have it, but don't drag out the folks who go to Mexico as good examples of why it's bad!) to pain meds.

I still record her shows but I delete more than I watch.

It will be all about diet and exercise.
