I guess that says it all.
My daughter is 10 so she is "over" her "Barney 50 times a day" phase, but she's now into some other equally annoying shows that drive me to the brink of insanity some days. Sounds like crinkling chip bags, a metal button on jeans ticking in the dryer, the high pitched squeal from a TV that's been turned on
are some things that most people wouldn't notice, but drive me nuts.
I LOVE music, but what I listen to depends on how I feel on a given day. I have quite a few genres of music on my phone. One day I might love one type, and the next it makes me want to throw my phone in front of the city bus.
Smells are a problem for me also. Even good smells that are too strong are annoying. And when it comes to bad smells....oh my gosh....I was at Walmart (or Hellmart as I call it) with my husband and daughter the other day and this family in front of us were filthy and smelled like they hadn't bathed in a LONG time. I was getting so irritated and quietly whispered to my husband, "I'm sorry, but there's no excuse for that. Soap is cheap." Don't mean to be nasty, but it was making my eyes burn.
I also thought Magic's "noise schedule" was a good suggestion. Wish I had something useful to offer, but I haven't found the remedy for "sensory overload" either. :o( BTW Stores like Old Navy and Hollister are out of the question for me because can't stand the "chaos" created from the lights, music, strong colognes/perfumes, etc. So, when my step kids have asked for gift cards from there, I've sent my husband in to get them!
Sometimes I just put my hands over my ears for a minute and it seems to help the overload a bit. Other times I have to go outside or to my room just to escape because if I stay in it I get crazy.
I am going to take the advice of others and get some earplugs. As long as I can still hear a little it should be helpful!
Now my adult kids have to help me out financially, and I am so grateful to them....glad I let them live, after all.
In all seriousness yes, I'm sensitive to loud noise & get dizzy too, kids chatter-cartoon channel..Ugh!...Lol... and the high squeals that spontaneously projects out of their bodys into your Fibro-matic Sensitive Ears.( those are challenging days ) Sorry!
I also have the floaters and photosensitvity.
Does that always happen from your headaches? Does it happen too with out the noise? Are your headaches worst when you lie down flat on your back? Have you brought this to your Doctor's attention yet? For the meantime the ear plugs sound like a good Idea, for certain things, maybe kids can work with
mom on a lower volume number when your having that happen? Sorry your going through this! Sending you Hugs and Prayers!
