First of all, let me say if that had been me, my doctor wouldn't have walked out the door without addressing the problem. But that's because I'm 57, been to the doctor(s) and ER a lot, and finally realized I had to take control of my own health by not letting those in the medical profession intimidate me. I think you need to make another appointment for just the ears, jaw, chest and rash problem. And ask questions and push him for some answers. I know that sometimes when we ask our docs about two or three different things, they'll focus on the one thing that was last addressed in previous appointment and forget the rest. They see patients all day and are rushed from one patient to another. It's up to us to keep them focused on our issues. I'm not getting on to you; I'm just saying it's hard to speak up sometimes but we have to if we want answers.

When I was reading your post again, it made me wonder if you might have sinus infection. I had bad sinus infection once that caused me to break out around my eyes and all across my cheeks. It was caused by the infection. Not saying that's what you have (I'm definitely no medical expert!!) but just relating my own experience. Definitely would call his office for another appointment and, when you do, you might say one of the problems you asked about was not addressed and that the doc got away from you before you could stop him.

Yeah I know, after I felt stupid for not saying something..
I have congestion, no runny nose, chest pain is getting worse, under right breast bone. Also running a fever.

Butterfly rash on your face is a lupus symptom. I would suggest you see a rheumy. Your dr doesn't even know what is wrong with you.

I have been tested for lupus, just the Ana blood work it was negative. But I agree I have all the symptoms of lupus.. I will definitely be seeing a rheumatologist soon!

I have something called connective tissue disorder with tendency of Lupus. I have a butterfly rash in my face, jaw, chest pain. You might want to do another appointment. If he doesn't work get someone else. Good Luck

That's interesting amiradora, sounds just like me! I will bring that up at my appointment.

There is also ANA negative lupus, undifferentiated connective tissue disease and mixed connective tissue disease. Way too many PCPs and even some rheumys do an ANA test and say "just fibro." If I hadn't found a rheumatolgists who listened to my actual history and symptoms and tried me on the first line drug for lupus plaquenil, well my life would have been a lot different. Of, course you may not have autoimmune issues. But it sounds as if you may need more testing and going over your symptoms and history by a knowledgeable doctor.

Yes, I do not feel like my doctor knows what he is doing, making an app. At U do M so fingers crossed. Hopefully they can get me in soon

i have uctd, with many lupus symptoms and also FM...maybe there's an overlap. also have much depression.. I have pushed myself beyond my physical limitations an it is hard to start the ssd process. such a discouraging set of circumstances....
I think that mds are practicing fast medicine and it is hard to get a cohesive picture of what it happen. planning for an apps. can help but i turn into a mute once in the office. it's hard to convey how bad things have been.
working in the medical field, i see the fast pace, the indifference toward patients with pain, chronic illness and depression. easier to move them along. i am ranting...sorry. too bad you have to become an assertive and sometimes annoying patient to get heard. being nice only goes so far

Hi, it sounds like it might be lupus , which can show a false negative ANA, and the docs need to treat the patient not the lab test. Fibro patients test differently anyway. Who decided the normal temp for EVERYONE was 98.6? You may not have that, you may have mixed connective tissue disorder, but I would see a rheumatologist and a dermatologist as the skin often shows autoimmune issues such as psoriatic arthritis. The mouth and gums do too. Lupus shows that butterfly rash, diffuse swellings, ligaments, muscle and joint pain, fatigue...but other conditions do too. The point is you know your body and you are supposed to feel well. I dont feel well, and I have had a doctor kind enough to help in his limits, but I am suffering, and I need more. It is so hard, I am at 20% and I know if I could work a little, my self esteem would go up, but I need help with my pain control. Pain is so so overwhelming.

Raindrop, I'm interested in your replies. You said you can have a negative test for lupus, but still have the disease? I don't have the rash, but I do have the swelling and pain. Also fatigue. What is connective tissue disease? I need to look that up. Thanks!

Oh, I wanted to add that when I saw an oral surgeon about a place in my mouth, he said it and some other issues in my mouth looked indicative of autoimmune issues. So I was hoping my blood work would show something, but according to the nurse who called me, it didn't,
