I take Norco 3 or 4 times daily. If I don't take it I won't have any kind of quality of life. Why should I feel guilty? I'm not going to let someone else make me feel guilty and you shouldn't either.
If its working for you just go with it.
I've taken hydrocodone for breakthrough pain for nearly 10 years. No side effects, never increased the amount except during a flare or injury, and both my doctors and I are satisfied with the outcome.
Don't compare yourself with anyone else - do what works for you.
I had a conversation with a woman last week that has Lyme disease and she takes all sorts of natural meds for her pain and fatigue. As we were talking, she basically said I will probably keep getting worse and that I should go the natural route. I am sure we all think this will go on forever and I guess being 42 years old, I just wonder what will I feel like in 20 or 30 years?
Ahhh, FIBRO!
We all have to do what works for us. Making suggestions is great. Judging isn't. A person who says something like "you're just going to get worse if you don't do what I say" isn't helping - they're judging.
I know it's hard, but try not to let the comments of others make you feel guilty for your treatment. I think we're very fortunate our doctors take our pain seriously and will treat it with something that helps.
I live in WA and I know that a lot of doctors and ER's are totally against pain meds. They make you feel like you are drug addicts. It is so sad.
I left my doctor in Oregon because she became very judgemental and every visit would ask me why I was taking the Norco (hello???). I lucked out and found an understanding Physician Assistant in my city. She said she has no problem with what I am taking because it is such a small dose. I hope I can stay at this dose, but I know I will have to go up one day.
These days, I might have an occasional relapse of pain, but since I learned the exact massage techniques to get rid of it, now it only lasts a day or two and I am back to normal again. Most people cannot even tell I have fibro anymore, I walk normally and can do most anything!
