Make sure you get it checked out properly. I have suffered with dizzyness for years but recently it has got much worse. At first all I would get from my doctors was "it could just be part of the fibro". But after finally sending me to a consultant who knew what she was talking about and spcialises in this field, and after referring me to their specialist physiotherapist, I have been diagnosed with vestibular vertigo. That's the one thing that gets on my nerves about having fibro, it's too easy for doctors just to group all your symptoms together and blame it on the fibro. This is why it is very important to keep pushing in case there is some other unerlying problem. Whilst I was being investigated by my consultant for the dizzyness they also found that I'm suffering from sinus tachycardia (which could be contributing to my dizzyness also).
So please, if your dizzyness persists go and get checked out properly, don't let your doctors "blame it on the fibro"!!
Regards.

Do you happen to have TMJ? There is not a lot published regarding the dizziness that can occur with it, but it does.
I have TMJ and I believe that some of the dizziness that I experience is related to that. I also get vertigo without any warning.
As shaninoz stated, if I happen to stand/move too quickly then I will start to experience it. Also if I try to grocery shop and turn mu head to look up and down the rows, it can overcome me. I keep OTC
Meclizine HCI sub-lingual captlets with me at all times, and I wear a splint at night for the TMJ. It is frightening not to know when it is going to occur and is so unpredictable. I don't think the TMJ is the complete cause for all of my sympt. I was trying to find a link that I was re-reading from the specialist that I saw. I refused to have the surgery for the TMJ because it can many times lead to more pain and additional problems. I'll keep searching for the link and post it if I can locate it. The downside of the Meclizine HCI is the drowsy feeling that it can give you and that may have been what you are taking. It is basically the same as antivert but much less expensive OTC. I purchase it in bottles of 100 because it is less than a co-pay for the other medications used.
I also had severe dizziness. I thought it might be the fibro, but then I seem to think everything wrong is the fibro. I was told I wasn't diabetic, but some of those dizzy spells were rough. Turns out, I am now considered diabetic. Now that I know how to eat and take the meds, I am no longer having those spells. I think I had to have been prediabetic and I am assuming my carb intake for the day was either really high or low and I was getting the dizzy spells. I have had fibro for 26 years now. There was a time I could barely walk, couldn't leave my home, I was in agony, but now I am much better. Still hurt, but I read everything I could get my hands on, tried different therapists, etc. Does diabetes run in your family? parents? grandparents? I was not happy to learn I am now a diabetic, but at least it explains the dizziness I had.
Good luck,
Susan
