DD, I am going to google drs and give that a shot. I have to stay within my network though, or I'm facing big bucks.
Batty, his office is always EMPTY!....Only doctor I've ever seen with a "NO WAIT TIME". So the dr has the time to stop and listen. But he doesn't obviously. As for hubby going, that dr doesn't have night hours.
This dr is so horrible that I've gone for my reg. appt. with the Flu, and Broncitis at different times. I asked him to write me a ABX's or inhaler....and again he says "NOT MY JOB, I"M AN ENDO"...so twice in the years going to him that I had to leave his doctor's office and drive another 1/2 hour and go to the ImmediataCenter for care and treatment.
I know this might sound nuts, but I felt bad for my hubby last nite. Men like to fix things, so dh did all this research for me thinking this was gonna do the trick. I think he felt a little deflated last nite too.
Hugs, and everyone have a wonderful day,...Debbie
My primamry was a wonderful Dr. All hell broke loss for me after my hysetrectomy from hell. By body went haywire, even my OB/GYN wanted me sent to a specialist. I was dealing with borderline thyroid numbers, and felt like hell, no energy, so much pain, unexplained vaginal infections, a whole shopping list of stuff going on..
After that, my Dr. sent me to a Rheumy who was very compassionate, and dx my fibro. I had gained 30 lbs in 2 months, so back to my primary I go. Next thing you know, I am in the hosptial with a blood clot in my intestines, Ischemic Colitis!I also had a wonderful gastro Dr. treat me. He also said I had fibro. I was on hormone replacement therapy, that cause clotting in me, and I had to be taken off all hormones. My weight readjusted and my blood pressure came back down to normal.
I think I just rambled on with most of my history, LOL!
ANYWAY...The endo I saw was the ONLY one in our area, and he sucked, no compassion!I think he had a God complex. I know when I walked out of his office, $275.00! lighter, I was so disillusioned with it all.
I have never been back to one since.
I wish you luck finding one who is caring and compassionate!
Big hugs,
Laurie
Basket, thanks for taking the time to post to me. You are a sweetie.
SunshineL: This dr has you put up your co-pay BEFORE you see him. Otherwise I would have said yesterday "Bill Me!". And then make him wait for it, like forever. LOL
There are just way too many bad doctor stories that WE all seem to have. It shouldn't be like this. They took the oath to heal and not harm. I think they need to be reminded of this.
Sorry about your experience. I hated the endo I saw too, it must be something about those people that choose that area of expertise. Others...what about ALL this weight gain? I am so big now it's ridiculous on a 1200-1500 calorie a day "diet", my weight just skyrocketed 30-40 pounds in 2-3 months. ALL BLOODWORK COMES BACK NORMAL? I feel like I've lost my mind!
Sometimes I wish we could swap situations just so the other person can experience and understand what it's like on THIS side of the fence.
*hugs you* I'm sorry your Dr was so abusive.
#1. If you don't have a will- make one! Both a living will and advance directive and one upone your passing. The living will is to give orders for what you would like to have done, where you want to be, who is to provide care, what measures are to be taken, etc... in the event you cannot communicate this. It is also able to assign power of attorney to someone that you trust to take care of things if you are unable.
#2. Think and decide how you would like your possessions disbursed. This keeps the vultures away and limits in-fighting. If you want a memorial or trust established or donations made to organizations- this is the best time to let that be known.
#3. Choose your funeral home, set your arrangements including the location, the officiator, the flowers/decor, the casket, the burial site, your clothing, jewelry, shoes, etc... and decide the best way to get it paid (you can borrow from existing life insurance ahead of time if neccessary). If there is anyone you DON'T want involved- you can let that be known, too. Then your loved ones won't seem so impolite when they tell them to back off :) (It happens)
I recommend going as far as choosing the music, the sequence of events- if you have a beloved poem, quote, or scripture- let it be known. (These personal things allow your loved ones to remember the real you during services- you won't have the cookie cutter eulogies that sometimes get delivered). Allowing them to remember YOU makes the memorial services more celebratory than depressing.
#4. How do you want to be remembered? Think of accomplishments and things that occured in your life that you want in your obituary. This you can write with your daughter and other loved ones- pick pictures, etc that you want included.
#5. Finances- do you have any debt? Can you have any of that debt insured? Like my mom, one of her cards did not ask any health questions- upon death they requested a death certificate and paid her loan in full. If large ticket items like your house or car are not paid and you want to leave them to someone, designate how that will be paid (as I stated before, with terminal illness insurance policies can be pre-paid w/penalty).
#6. Take pictures!! Make videos!! Write notes, record messages!!!!! Do this now, in case your health does dwindle. My mother always knew who we were but in her last few weeks she went from forgeting our names, to making incoherent statements, to not being able to speak at all. Allow your loved ones to remember you and go back to better images of you. If I had this, I think it would erase some of the images of my mother in her worst times. If you have young grandkids- it'll keep you in their lives, they will know who you are.
The list goes on and on, but these things will help make some of the transitions easier.
As I said, sooner than later is the best time to start. It doesn't require an estate planner or much extra money- you can do all of this yourself.
Are you close to NYC or is there another doc in the next town over? Maybe it is time for him to be fired.
If you are ever wanting to come to minneapolis for a visit...she's honestly the best ever.
I've also have an incredible team of OBGyns.
And I'm toying with the idea of asking them to take me on as a Fibro patient together. I'm having the worst of luck with finding a doctor who will treat me for fibro here in the cities.
Wonderbaby, That's great that you have good drs. in Minn....actually if you got a couple of extra GOOD doctors send them up to Jersey. LOL
i'm sorry you had to deal with this guy and wasted so much of your time. most of us have been thru this and it's very hair pulling! please be patient and find your self a good doc, don't take any shit from anyone!
