Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I think it's just as individual as everything else about us.
1) One theory with FMS is that it is caused by a liver dysfunction. Since the liver removes toxins from the body, avoiding food additives and highly processed foods puts less strain on the liver and allows it to work better at removing pain by-products.
2) A lot of folks with FMS have additional health issues, including digestive issues like IBS and other disorders that keep the digestive system from working effectively as possible. Nutrient-dense foods, foods that help digestion (ginger is my favorite!) and probiotic/fermented foods (yogurt as an example) help the body absorb more nutrition and in general gives us better health to cope with other symptoms.
We also do a lot of cooking with coconut and coconut oil - the coconut oil is considered a saturated fat, BUT it also is in a form that breaks down into energy components very quickly in the body rather than being stored as fat. We use cinnamon in a lot of stuff because it's anti-spasmotic, and curry also helps with pain relief (can you tell we do a lot of S & SE Aisia cooking in our house? ;) There's an AWESOME coconut soup recipe we love here:

Hope that helps!
I can have a little bit of butter and possibly small amounts of goat or sheep cheese
