I was having the same problem last winter and it turned out to be from a Vitamin D deficiency! Depression is one of the many things that can be caused by it. I tried just getting a supplement to correct the problem, but after several months, I was still depressed, so my doctor gave me prescription strength vitamin D, which is 50,000 units once a week. That seemed to finally do the trick. So have your doctor check you and see if that's the problem. If you're like me, you spend so much time inside, your body doesn't get enough sun to manufacture vitamin D.
Just a thought,
Mizroze
Eva's right, most antidepressants take 4 or more weeks to be effective. Are the meds they're changing antidepressants? That's not enough time to see if they work. If they are pain meds, that's another story.
Most Americans are deficient in vitamin D, so it is a good idea to get your level checked like Mizroze suggested. D has a lot to do with depression.
I hope you find relief for your depression soon.
I resently tried a product called Happy Camper that I found at a health food store. I take it occasionally just to help me relax in the evening and I find it helps.
Also like others have said get your vitamin D level checked this could also be part of the problem.
Sending Hugs & Prayers that you feel better soon.
Vitamin D didn't cure me but it did improve my pain level - felt more like the meds were working better than that the pain was gone, if that makes any sense - anyway it did help noticeably.
Hang in there - at least you have a doc that's trying and not blowing you off.
