I am having pain tonight. I talked about my pain to my family doctor and asked him about treatment options. I asked him "what the heck it fibro anyway? and he said, "fibromyalgia is the physical expression of depression."
In that case what am I gonna do now? My new shrink and I aren't starting off very well and I can't get in to see anybody else.

Really? THen why is a heart med (viagra) used for erectile dysfunction (Hmmm)???? Yeah---one med can't possibly do more than one thing.... ahem.... grrr... OK, your doc hit a sore point with me obciously!
AND many of us (me included) have tried SSRIs etc (depression meds originally) and had NO FM relief---and no mood changes, either, for that matter---so...
Find a new doc or buy this one the latest Fibro for Dummies. Even my GP will admit FM is real even tho' h e hates the dx b/c he feels it's handed out too easily and is really a symptom of something else and should be addressed as such.
TO quote my neuro: "It is a neuromuscular condition that causes widespread all-over pain." Why? Well, some say it's a brain glitch, some say the whole nervous system, everyone has a pet theory----but it's not depression.
Hmph.
OK, just took over and vented for you, but I agree with above---and my PAIN causes a lot of my inclination to depression.
