I was put on Cymbalta last summer and along with it Lamictal.....bad combo for my having no thyroid. It made the fibro stuff so much worse, and I went seriously Hypothyroid on it. Now i have a friend in Alabama who just began Cymbalta and she is having good luck with it. I guess it depends on your system and whatever else you have going on.
There may need to be a check done by the FDA about thyroid procautions with this drug.

I was on Cymbalta for about 18 months, got over the dry mouth, but never got over the constipation even with help (Miralax). Gained weight on Cymbalta due to craving sweets. Did not seem to make any difference in the fibro pain. Stopped it myself, had halucinations for two days, but realized it was just due to stopping Cymbalta. Then I stopped craving sweets and lost 25 pounds--and kept it off. I will never take Cymbalta again. I do take Prozac and Klonipin and both help with no bad side effects (yet).

I take a very low dose of Cymbalta once a day. When I tried twice a day I got too tired. It helps with the mood but not with the pain. I think neuropathic pain responds better to it. Fibro pain is so deep in the muscle

I took Cymbalta for 2 weeks. Started out with 30mg, then 60mg. I didn't really notice any difference except I felt sick to my stomach most of the time.

I was put on cymbalta a few years ago from a rheumo i no longer see. That was probably the worst med ive been on when it comes to side affects. I normally do not have any side affects from any meds but the cymbalta was horrible.
I had severe constipation, stomach cramps, headaches, and just felt horrible. That particular rheumo would not take me off of the cymbalta I changed docs.

My doc prescribed cymbalta and lyrica in April 2006. I have been taking them since that time. I have terrible dry mouth and watery eyes and I have weight gain, but lyrica is bad for that too. Not sure which one is causing me to gain weight. They are the only meds I take.Don't really think the cymbalta has helped that much for the fibro, but it helped with depression. I plan to ask for different meds when I see my doc again.

Cymbalta was wonderful as far as eliminating my fibrofog. However, I slept more than ever! I did have a weight gain and increasd desire for sweets, but I thought that was just because I'm 46....I had to come off it, and that was awful. I don't know if I would ever take it again because the withdrawal made me excessively moody, along with a few other milder symptons.

I tried it, and it made my blood pressure higher than it's normal "high", and did not help with the pain. My Psychiatrist who manages my meds, said he hadn't had that much luck with this med for fibro. He's been around for a long time too, and has many patients. I think that the company behind Cymbalta was reaching when it touted that it could help fibro pain. Of course, the more people they could sell it to, but there was really no research proving that (at least that is what I read a while ago). However, if it has helped some, maybe it would be worth a try for some. I've been on several different SSRI's and so far, Fluoxetine (prozac), has been the best for me. 60 millegram, and it doesn't numb me, so when I see a reall sad commercial, I can still cry, ha ha:).

That's why I want to eat like a hundred times a day!!! It's the Cymbalta! If you were on it and went off, what has taken it's place for the pain and depression?

when i first saw the ads on tv for cymbalta, i thought it was the answer to a prayer. i was the one who suggested it to my doc and she was all for it.

what a nightmare! easily the worst drug i have ever taken. i had those nasty electrical brain "zaps" that shivered all through my body, nausea, loss of appetite, horrible sleep and bad dreams, and worst of all, i started losing blocks of time. entire days. often, my husband would come home from work and find me curled up in the dark basement with a blanket around me.

needless to say, it didn't help with anything. my regular pharmacist said he's hearing a lot of troublesome news about the drug and its side effects.

I was on Cymbalta for about 3 days two years ago. I ended up in the hospital with what I can only describe as a really bad feeling of anxiety and uncontrolable restless leg syndrome. I was unable to sleep from the moment I started the medication. At the hospital they gave me something that put me to sleep for about 12 hours and that cured me, but I've been really scared to try new meds.

I've also heard that you can't take anti-depressants if you take Tramadol.

I have been on Cymbalta for about 2 months. The only side effect I have noticed is the craving of sweets. It has really improved my energy level but I haven't seen much of a decrease in muscle pain.

I was on Cymbalta for several years. It helped my depression better than anything I have ever taken, but for the pain, it did nothing. I had to quit taking it because my insurance company wouldn't pay for it because it wasn't generic. GRRRR!!!!!

I like cymbalta! It toally helps ease the neck pain I have. I really notice it coming back if I stop it! Also I would get SO mad at things and the cymbalta really helps even my moods! Laurie

I've been on cymbalta since Feb 7th and really haven't seen much improvement at all. I just started with physical therapy which has help my neck pain until then though the cymbalta had not. I also can't see where cymbalta has been that effective with my depression. I think though it's helped with the fibro fog, but that's it. Haven't noticed an increase in blood pressue but as soon as I do I'm sure they'll take me off it as I already have high blood pressure. Everyone's reaction to medicine is different though.
