I've been on cyclobenzaprine for the last 2 years it's the only thing that takes the edge of my muscle pain. I use naproxen with it and it's been the only combo that works for me.

I take half a pill every night and it helps me stay asleep, so I feel better in the morning. If I take a whole pill, though, then I'm pretty sleepy the whole next day, but I feel pretty good. Not good for being at work, but it would be nice if I were at home.

(I recently got a chance to see what taking a whole pill is like when I double-dosed myself Monday night. I wasn't paying attention, apparently, and took all my evenings pills twice. I noticed it Tuesday night when I *knew* I hadn't taken my pills, yet, but my little Tuesday spot in my pill minder was empty. Gosh darn fibro fog!!! This means I also doubled up on my allergy medication. I spent most of Tuesday very sleepy, but I was in less pain.)

what kind of drug is cyclobenzaprine just out of curiosity?

I think she is referring to the technical name for flexeril.

I have been using cyclobenzaprine for probably 3 years(?), not sure. It helps my muscle relax and I seem to sleep better when I take it, which results in a better day the next day. I take it every night as my doc prescribes.

I had previously been on Skelaxin and never had that " I just took a muscle relaxent feel". After 8 months of getting it filled by my insurance company (and yes I'm not working and I'm on Massachusetts state insurance) they decided not to let me get on it. I'm on Cyclobenazprine now. I don't like it as much. It just adds to that sleepy foggy feeling I get from some of my other meds.

So Skelaxin didn't make you sleepy? I noticed I was in less pain the day I doubled up on my medication and was thinking about asking my doc if there's a muscle relaxant I can take during the day that doesn't put you to sleep. If Skelaxin doesn't make a person sleepy, that might be my answer!

I take 1 flexeril every night.It seems to keep my legs from aching quite so badly. It doesn't help me sleep any better though.

I like ck55 take flexeril nightly. My dr increased my lexapro saying that along with the flexeril would help my sleep.

I have used Flexeril in the past along with countless other meds...the only ones that seem to work for me are Lortab 10. I take 1-1/2 tablets in the morning and sometimes when I'm having a bad flare (which I am right now)I will take anohter 1/2 - a whole around 3:30 in the afternoon. At night I take Ambien so I can sleep. Lately, I wake up in the morning and really have to force myself out of bed and to the shower. I have worked a full time job and a part-time job for 30 years. Had to leave the part-time job recently as It was killing me.

I have heard alot about flexeril lately. I have been on cyclobenzaprine before for different reasons and it never helped me.

I'm on Cyclobenzaphrine and it is alright...I take it at night to sleep...but it really isn't helping me sleep, I think I am going to ask for something else when I go back to my Rhummy...

Yes, when it works, it is one of the greatest meds. would give up the narcs before this.Can take it twice a day for maximum benifit if you start while not working the first few early doses. the drowsiness wears off in a week at most, it is so worth perservering. Norflex is another option /c less drowsiness, but not as good in my experience. cj
