Diabetes is by far the most common cause of neuropathy in the legs. Many other conditions can cause neuropathy with a burning sensation in the feet:
Chronic kidney disease (uremia)
Vitamin deficiency (vitamin B12 and occasionally vitamin B6)
Alcohol abuse
Low thyroid hormone levels (hypothyroidism)
Lyme disease
HIV/AIDS
Amyloid polyneuropathy
Drug side effects, including chemotherapy drugs, vitamin B6 overdose, HIV medicines, isoniazid, amiodarone, metformin, and others
Heavy metal poisoning (lead, mercury, arsenic)
Vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels)
Sarcoidosis
Guillain-Barre syndrome
Arterial disease
Edema or fluid retention
Hypertension
It's been a problem for me for months.
I did get the EMG nerve conduction test done and I have mild peripheral neuropathy. Doc says it's mild but boy it drives me nuts. Hot feet I'm always trying to cool down.
However I started a homeopathic medicine a few days ago called Nervefix which I think is helping because today I noticed that my feet feel cooler and less tingly which is definitely an improvement.
I haven't had my vitamin b 12 level checked but I've been taking a good B complex and sublingual b for a long while so I don't know if that is my problem.
And my doc was not much help. I asked what is causing it and he couldn't give me a straight answer he said it was Possibly to do with the RA I had for years but I am in remission from RA for 5 yrs so how can thay be and the hot tingly feet problem only started about a year or so ago. I think it's linked to the knee joint replacement surgery I had but he said no it's not that.
So yeah I have been trying to find ways to help symptoms. I use a herbal cooling spray to try and cool them down which is a temporary few seconds relief but this NERVEFIX remedy is looking very promising for me. If you are interested Look online, it's available from plenty of places and you can read reviews on it.
Obviously you find out first what's going on and I hope you get answers from the doctor.
Get your B12 checked out, as was previously mentioned.
Good luck!
