I am believing we are all suffering from modern environmental and dietary bombardment. I am the worst, when it comes to diet, but I do believe it's part of the cause of my troubles! If we'd get back to putting into our body only what was meant to be... we'd be a lot better off... We're just so far from optimum health behaviors!

BIOTIN
Description:
"Biotin is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin (C10H16N2O3S) that is produced in the intestines by bacteria as well as by the diet. As a coenzyme, it assists in the making of fatty acids, in nucleic acid synthesis, and in the oxidation of fatty acids and carbohydrates. Without biotin, the body's fat production is impaired. It also aids in the utilization of protein, folic acid, pantothenic acid, and vitamin B-12." Nutrition Almanac.
Liver cells that lack biotin will be deprived of the energy they need to detoxify chemicals and drugs. There is some evidence that biotin is essential for the production of metallothionein, a metal-carrying protein that assists copper and zinc metabolism and which also protects against cadmium toxicity.
Food sources:
Nuts, whole grain foods, vegetables and brewer's yeast and in supplement form.
Deficiency of this vitamin is not rare and can cause hair loss, dry flaky skin, rashes and fatigue. Those with a poor diet, alcoholism or long term antibiotic use are at risk of deficiency.

I agree, I found out about this B vitamin biotin a couple of weeks ago and started the supplement (due to hair loss) among other things. I also started vitamin D-3 because a lot of adults lack this as well. D-3 is absorbed by fat cells first and causes a deficiency to our bodies. I also take a multivitamin, and calcium. I feel so much better after starting these vitamins. I can actually exercise. I changed my diet too, so my pain level is down. Besides what is caused by the exercises. LOL

That's interesting. I don't have hair loss, but dry skin and am always on antibiotics. May be something to look into.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
