Sounds typical. Its one place or another. I have an area of my arm by the outside of the elbow, that has always been a problem. In fact, the first place I noticed my fibro. My hands bother me on and off, sometimes terribly bad. I would rather take pain medication to suppress the pain so that I am able to live. We all treat differently. Tylenol and advil do nothing for me. Strangely, sometimes,(if the pain is not too bad!) aspirin seems to work for me. Sometimes i use for breakthru pain. And the pain rubs work a little especially on hands and feet. I'm trying MSM for that. Gonna give some of the other herbal and non-traditional creams a try also. Reflexology maybe would help you. I would Seek a Neuro, have them do a FULL Evaluation of your Spine !!

PS- the underarm area could be swollen glands. Could be PMS (hormonal), or viral too.

I go through phases where the pain is upper body , where it's lower body and when it's all over....I was dx 8 months ago though they think it's actually been a couple of years. I am sorry but my rheumy and I have not found any magic combination. My advice would be to call the doc and tell then that because of this pain it is severely affecting your standard of living. Those last few words generally hit home with the docs and make them more willing to try things. I am on a prescription NSAID called Indocin, and there are a bunch more in that category if you are reluctant to go to narcotics.

Have problems with this too! Drives me nuts. If it's leg/body pain I can sit and do something but with wrist hand pain I feel like I can't do anything. Elbows have been bothering me too recently. Some of the topical remedies can offer a little relief. I keep going back and forth about using capsacin products since I just know I'd get it in my eyes or something. Wrist braces (the soft kind) can offer some help u can find them at CVS or Rite-Aid. Some are quite affordable.

A massage therapist taught me about something called "referred pain." Seems that all of the nerves that control your arms, elbows, wrists & hands travel in a bundle through your shoulders. A knotted muscle in your shoulder can press on a nerve that controls your wrist, and you will feel pain in the wrist. I am proof of this. I told my MT that I felt like someone injected kerosene under my skin between my elbows and wrists, then lit a fire. She nodded, and started working on my shoulders. Yes, indeedy, they were knotted up. It hurt like hell, but the arm pain went away. So, maybe you have tight shoulders. You could try stretching, yoga, or a visit with an MT.

Also, if When You Sit, You tend to Use an "Arm Rest" Instead of Allowing your Arms to sit relaxed at your sides, this can Pinch a Nerve, or Tighten the Shoulder Muscles..which can Piss off Nerves in the Arm.

I used to Drive Truck for a living, I Always rested my right Wrist on the Gear Shifter, and I ALWAYS had Weird Burning, Stinging pains in that Right hand..Once I Allowed my Arm to rest Comfortably on my lap instead of Up on something this all went away.
