I am now fearing I have developed carpal tunnel syndrome, as my hands and lower arms get numb and tingly on a regular basis. Hard to tell if this is fibro-related or if it's just because I've spent half my life with my hands on a keyboard, but I am interested in what seems to be a high incidence of carpal tunnel in fibro folks.
Many of these issues can be dealt with by changing position or doing some stretch exercises my chiropractor gave me along with a few simple yoga poses. Much of it stems from poor circulation and nerve conduction. I have a few nerves that regularly get pinched in my spine.
I still have trouble when it comes to mixing the meatballs up for Grace (my Great Dane on her special diet) and I've had to ask for help the last two times I made up a batch.
My hubby joked that he may have to paint the kitchen floor white cuz I keep dropping the milk out of the fridge.
I cant grip or do small tasks it's not all the time but enough to irrate me.
I was always resting my elbows on the table and putting more pressure on them by resting my head in my hands.
There is a nerve that runs from the elbow into the hand that can get damaged or pinched causing some of this pain. I was lucky PT and being aware of not putting pressure on the elbow made a big difference. The same can be seen in the wrist where people rest them on the edge of desks and tables. Some doctors might suggest surgery but I would go with PT and make changes in how I rest my arms and hands.
Hope things get better for you
