2 years ago I broke out in hives. I spoke to the anesthesiologist, even brought my medical papers.
My ENT doing sinus surgery told him to make sure I was in a "Neutral Spine" position. I thought that was interesting that he knew to make sure my head and neck were well supported. So, I agree with SunnySue. He was an awesome doc. I still broke out in hives but my pain doc says that was probably how they prepped me.
I think the idea of the nerve block, was that I could get less of the anesthesia and also deaden the pain, but I don't know what I am going to go with now?
BTW what did they give you, did you find out?
When I'm having surgery, I always tell them I'm prone to nausea after, and they give me a patch plus everything but the kitchen sink. It's worked so far.
I certainly do think this is worse on us than the norm.
The good news: The anesthesiologist put a SEA SICKNESS patch behind my ear prior to administering the general, which I left in place until the next morning. It was wonderful. No tummy trouble or headache or etc. I even ate regular lunch and dinner on the surgery day. (The surgery had not been abdominal.)
It was the first positive experience I've had with a general.
